Preparation of two-mode anticorrelated photon-number state via atom de Broglie wave deflection

Abstract

It is shown that the deflection of an atom de Broglie wave at two adjacent cavities containing non-resonant weak fields can yield a highly entangled quantum state of the atom–field system in which discernible atomic beams are entangled to internal states of the atom and to two-mode photon-number states of the fields. Two-mode anticorrelated entangled photon-number states characterized by the total photon number can be prepared by the detection of the atom in given directions of the propagation.

Atom de Broglie Wave Deflection by a Single Cavity Mode in the Few-Photon Limit: Quantum Prism

It is shown that the deflection of an atom de Broglie wave at a nonresonant weak cavity field mode can yield a pure entangled quantum state in which discernable atomic beams are entangled to photon number states of the field and to internal states of the atom. The proposed experimental scheme is shown to be applicable for quantum nondemolition measurement of the photon statistics, and for quantum state engineering and reconstruction experiments.

Spatially entangled atomic deflections in twin-photon light beams

Gagik Yu. Kryuchkyan, Mihai Macovei, Christoph H. Keitel

We investigate deflections, spatial entanglement, and localization of an atomic beam due to its interaction with two modes of a standing electromagnetic field in an optical cavity. It is demonstrated that the deflection properties of an atom passing through two crossed standing light waves are crucially modified when photon-number correlated states of light are used instead of independent waves. Depending on the atom-light interaction scheme, various periodic two-dimensional patterns in a subwavelength regime are reported.

An Alternative Scheme to Generate Arbitrary Anticorrelated States of a Two-Mode Field via Λ-type Atom Resonant Interaction with a Two-Mode Cavity Field

Zhong Zhi-Rong, Gong Yan-Fang, Wan-Jun Su

An alternative scheme is presented to generate arbitrary anticorrelated states of a two-mode field. In the scheme, a sequence of Λ-type three-level atoms are orderly sent across the cavity to interact with the cavity field initially in the two-mode vacuum state. The detection of all the atoms in the ground state collapses the two-mode field to the desired state. In this way, we can prepare the anticorrelated states of a two-mode field.

Preparation of Three-atom Entangled W StateVia Resonant Atom-field Interaction

Shao-Hua Xiang

We present a simple and realizable scheme to generate three-atom entangled W state, based on the resonant interaction of three two-level atoms with one single-mode cavity field. It is shown that such state can easily be achieved by controlling the interaction time of atom-cavity-field and the coupling constant without the detection of photon number within the cavity. In addition, the experimental feasibility within the realm of cavity QED is analyzed.

Measurement of entangled states via atomic beam deflection in Bragg’s regime

Ashfaq H. Khosa, Manzoor Ikram, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

We propose a scheme for the measurement of joint photon statistics and Wigner function of the entangled field states between two separate cavities. The scheme utilizes the momentum state of the two-level atoms in Bragg's regime. The probability of finding the atom in any one of the momentum states is the product of joint photon statistics and an oscillatory function. The argument of the function contains the information of the joint photon numbers in two cavities. We use the method of state reduction to a single set of joint photon numbers, which is a consequence of the measuring sequence. The repeated measurement of the set of photon numbers gives the joint photon statistics of the entangled field state. The complete entangled state can be reconstructed as a Wigner function from the knowledge of photon statistics of the coherently displaced entangled state.

Entanglement detection via atomic deflection

C. E. Máximo, Romain Bachelard, G. D. de Moraes Neto +1 more

We report on criteria to detect entanglement between the light modes of two crossed optical cavities by analyzing the transverse deflection patterns of an atomic beam. The photon exchange between the modes and atoms occurs around the overlapping nodes of associated standing waves, which generates the two-dimensional (2D) version of the Optical Stern–Gerlach (OSG) effect. In this optical cross-cavity setup, we show that the discrete signatures of the field states, left in the momentum distribution of the deflected atoms, may reveal entanglement for a certain class of two-mode states. For a single photon, we present the possibility of quantifying entanglement by the rotation of the momentum distribution. For a larger number of photons, we demonstrate that quantum interference precludes the population of specific momentum states revealing maximum entanglement between the light modes.
