Temperley-Lieb algebras and the long distance properties of statistical mechanical models

Abstract

The author writes down the regular representation of the Temperley-Lieb algebra T k (q) in the basis of reduced words on the k Temperley-Lieb generators. When k=2n-1, representations of these generators may be used to construct the transfer matrices for statistical mechanical models on an n-site wide lattice. He shows that the generically irreducible representation of T 2n-1 (q) responsible for the unique free energy in such models may be restricted to the regular representation of T n-1 (q). He gives equivalent forms for the regular representation, derived from lattice models, which manifest its indecomposable structure when k and q are such that T k (q) is semisimple. He hence generalises to obtain the structure of T k (q) when not semisimple. A transfer matrix built with generators in the regular representation gives the long distance properties of all possible such models. He shows how to find the semisimple quotient algebra which gives these long distance properties when T k (q) itself is not semisimple. He hence classifies the long distance properties of these statistical mechanical models.

Temperley-Lieb operator formalism for Zqsymmetric models and solvable submanifolds

Paul Martin, G. Launer

The authors give the operator formalism for the transfer matrix in Z q symmetric models. They give the structure and irreducible representations of the associated operator algebra. They show that the Potts model limit gives a subalgebra which is the unitarisable quotient of the Temperley-Lieb algebra, and give the inclusion of this subalgebra. The authors discuss other subalgebras in the context of a conformal field theory limit of the Z q symmetric models.

The Temperley–Lieb algebra and its generalizations in the Potts andXXZmodels

Alexander Nichols

We discuss generalizations of the Temperley–Lieb algebra in the Potts and XXZ models. These can be used to describe the addition of integrable boundary terms of different types. We use the Temperley–Lieb algebra and its one-boundary, two-boundary, and periodic extensions to classify different integrable boundary terms in the two-, three-, and four-state Potts models. The representations always lie at critical points where the algebras becomes non-semisimple and possess indecomposable representations. In the one-boundary case we show how to use representation theory to extract the Potts spectrum from an XXZ model with particular boundary terms and hence obtain the finite size scaling of the Potts models. In the two-boundary case we find that the Potts spectrum can be obtained by combining several XXZ models with different boundary terms. As in the Temperley–Lieb case, there is a direct correspondence between representations of the lattice algebra and those in the continuum conformal field theory.

Generalised Onsager Algebra in Quantum Lattice Models

Yuan Miao

The Onsager algebra is one of the cornerstones of exactly solvable models in statistical mechanics. Starting from the generalised Clifford algebra, we demonstrate its relations to the graph Temperley--Lieb algebra, and a generalisation of the Onsager algebra. We present a series of quantum lattice models as representations of the generalised Clifford algebra, possessing the structure of a special type of the generalised Onsager algebra [1]. The integrability of those models is presented, analogous to the free fermionic eight-vertex model. We also mention further extensions of the models and physical properties related to the generalised Onsager algebras, hinting at a general framework that includes families of quantum lattice models possessing the structure of the generalised Onsager algebras.

Structure of Temperley-Lieb algebras and its application to 2D statistical models

Dan Lévy

A simple derivation of the ideals in the Temperley Lieb algebras is presented together with a convenient basis. Using this basis it is shown how to derive the eigenvalue equations for operators defined on the algebra and a relation to the Bethe-Ansatz equations is noticed. The irreducible content of the spin-(1/2 XXZ model is also discussed.

XXZ MODEL AND THE STRUCTURE OF SYMMETRICAL ALGEBRA

马中骐, Zhong-Qi Ma, By Hou

In this paper, an XXZ model of the Heisenberg spin chain with the symmetry of the quantum SL(q) (2) enveloping algebra is discussed. In terms of the structure of the Temperley-Lieb algebra, in this model we analyze the finite-dimensional representations of the quantum SL(q) (2) with q(p) = +/- 1 in some detail, including the condition of appearance of the reducible but indecomposable representations (type I representation), their properties, and the complete set of the states related to a definite energy where the new states are obtained by an appropriate limiting process.

Temperley-Lieb words as valence-bond ground states

Arndt, P.F., Heinzel, T. (Bonn Univ. (Germany). Physikalisches Inst.), Yung, C.M. (Australian National Univ., Canberra, ACT (Australia). Dept. of Mathematics) +1 more

Based on the Temperley-Lieb algebra we define a class of one-dimensional Hamiltonians with nearest and next-nearest neighbour interactions. Using the regular representation we give ground states of this model as words of the algebra. Two point correlation functions can be computed employing the Temperley-Lieb relations. Choosing a spin-1/2 representation of the algebra we obtain a generalization of the (q-deformed) Majumdar-Gosh model. The ground states become valence-bond states. (orig.)
