Abstract

Usually a wavelet transform is based on dilated-translated wavelets. We propose a symplectic-transformed-translated wavelet family psi(*)(r,s)(z-kappa) (r,s are the symplectic transform parameters, |s|(2)-|r|(2)=1, kappa is a translation parameter) generated from the mother wavelet psi and the corresponding wavelet transformation W(psi)f(r,s;kappa)=integral(infinity)(-infinity)(d(2)z/pi)f(z)psi(*)(r,s)(z-kappa). This new transform possesses well-behaved properties and is related to the optical Fresnel transform in quantum mechanical version.

Entangled symplectic wavelet transformation

Hong-Yi Fan, Shu-guang Liu

The symplectic wavelet transformation proposed in Opt. Lett. 31, 3432 (2006), which is related to the optical Fresnel transform in the quantum optics version, is developed into an entangled symplectic wavelet transformation (ESWT) after pointing out the contrast between the single-mode Fresnel operator and the entangled Fresnel operator. The ESWT possesses well-behaved properties and corresponds to the entangled Fresnel transform [Phys. Lett. A334, 132 (2005)].

Symplectic-dilation mixed wavelet transform and its correspondence in quantum optics

Hong-yi Fan, Shu-guang Liu, Li-yun Hu

The symplectic wavelet transform, which is related to the quantum optical Fresnel transform, is developed to the symplectic-dilation mixed wavelet transform (SDWT). The SDWT involves both a real-variable dilation-transform and a complex-variable symplectic transform and possesses well-behaved properties such as the Parseval theorem and the inversion formula. The entangled-coherent state representation not only underlies the SDWT but also helps to derive the corresponding quantum transform operator whose counterpart in classical optics is the lens-Fresnel mixed transform.

Wavelet transform in the context of quantum mechanics and new orthogonal property of mother wavelets in parameter space

Liyun Hu, Hong-Yi Fan

Based on the quantum mechanical version of wavelet transform (WT) W ψ f(μ,s) = ⟨ψ|U(μ,s)| f ⟩ [Fan, H.Y.; Lu, H.L. Opt. Lett. 2006, 31, 407] we further prove Parseval theorem and inversion formula for WT in the context of quantum mechanics. The concise proof not only manifestly shows the merit of Dirac's representation theory, but also leads to a new orthogonal property of mother wavelets in parameter space.

Quantum Mechanics Version of Wavelet Transform Studied by Virtue of IWOPTechnique

FANHong-Yi, LǖJian-Feng

Using the technique of integral within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators we show that the wavelet transform can be recasted to a matrix element of squeezing-displacing operator between the mother wavelet state vector and the state vector to be transformed in the context of quantum mechanics. In this way many quantum optical states'wavelet transform can be easily derived.

Correspondence between quantum-optical transform and classical-optical transform explored by developing Dirac’s symbolic method

Hong-Yi Fan, Liyun Hu

By virtue of the new technique of performing integration over Dirac’s ket-bra operators, we explore quantum optical version of classical optical transformations such as optical Fresnel transform, Hankel transform, fractional Fourier transform, Wigner transform, wavelet transform and Fresnel-Hadmard combinatorial transform etc. In this way one may gain benefit for developing classical optics theory from the research in quantum optics, or vice-versa. We cannot only find some new quantum mechanical unitary operators which correspond to the known optical transformations, deriving a new theorem for calculating quantum tomogram of density operators, but also can reveal some new classical optical transformations. For examples, we find the generalized Fresnel operator (GFO) to correspond to the generalized Fresnel transform (GFT) in classical optics. We derive GFO’s normal product form and its canonical coherent state representation and find that GFO is the loyal representation of symplectic group multiplication rule. We show that GFT is just the transformation matrix element of GFO in the coordinate representation such that two successive GFTs is still a GFT. The ABCD rule of the Gaussian beam propagation is directly demonstrated in the context of quantum optics. Especially, the introduction of quantum mechanical entangled state representations opens up a new area in finding new classical optical transformations. The complex wavelet transform and the condition of mother wavelet are studied in the context of quantum optics too. Throughout our discussions, the coherent state, the entangled state representation of the two-mode squeezing operators and the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators are fully used. All these have confirmed Dirac’s assertion: “...for a quantum dynamic system that has a classical analogue, unitary transformation in the quantum theory is the analogue of contact transformation in the classical theory”.

Wavelet transform for Fresnel-transformed mother wavelets

Shuguang Liu, Junhua Chen, Hong-Yi Fan

In this paper, we propose the so-called continuous Fresnel-wavelet combinatorial transform which means that the mother wavelet undergoes the Fresnel transformation. This motivation can let the mother-wavelet-state itself vary from |〉 to F†r,s|〉, except for variation within the family of dilations and translations. The Parseval's equality, admissibility condition and inverse transform of this continuous Fresnel-wavelet combinatorial transform are analysed. By taking certain parameters and using the admissibility condition of this continuous Fresnel-wavelet combinatorial transform, we obtain some mother wavelets. A comparison between the newly found mother wavelets is presented.
