A scheme for the generation of multi-mode Schrödinger cat states

Abstract

A scheme is proposed for the generation of superpositions of multi-mode coherent states, i.e. multi-mode Schrödinger cat states. In the scheme a -type three-level atom is sent through many cavities filled with coherent fields. The whole system is entangled via the Raman atom-field interaction. Then the detection of the atom leaves the cavity system in a multi-mode cat state. Under certain conditions, such a cat state is identical to a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state and thus can be used to test local realistic theories.

A scheme was presented for the generation of bipartite and multipartite entangled squeezed coherent states. In the scheme, a V-type three-level atom was sent through many single-mode cavities filled with squeezed coherent field. The whole system was entangled via the atom-cavity Raman interaction. Then detection the atom leaves the cavity system in an entangled state.

Preparation of Multicomponent Schrödinger Cat States Through Resonant Atom-Field Interaction

Zheng Shi-Biao

A simple method is presented for generating multicomponent Schrödinger cat states through resonant atom-field interactions. In the scheme n two-level atoms, initially in ground states, are sent through a resonant cavity filled with a strong coherent field sequentially. Then state-selective measurements are performed on the atoms. The detections of the atoms in ground states collapse the cavity field onto a superposition of 2 n coherent states. This is the first way for producing superpositions of many coherent states through resonant atom-field interaction.

Quantum Nonlocality and Generation of Multi-mode Schrodinger Cat States

Zheng Shi-Biao

We describe the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) paradox in the multi-mode Schrödinger cat states. We also show that the multi-mode cat states violate the Bell's inequality by an amount that grows exponentially with number of modes. The test of quantum nonlocality is based on parity measurement and displacement operation, which are experimentally feasible. We also describe a scheme for the generation of the cat states in cavity QED.

Generation of Multi-atom Entangled States via the Raman Atom-Cavity-Field Interaction

Zheng Shi-Biao, Guo Guang-Can

A scheme is presented for preparing multi-atom entangled states based on the Raman atom-cavity-field interaction. After several degenerate Λ-type three-level atoms interact with an appropriately prepared single-mode cavity field through Raman coupling, a two-level atom, resonant with the cavity, is sent through the cavity and a Ramsey zone. The detection of the two-level atom leaves the Λ-type atoms in an entangled state.

Generation of entangled coherent states for two cavity modes via resonant interaction with a V-type three-level atom

Zheng Shi-Biao

This paper proposes a scheme for the generation of entangled coherent states for two cavity modes. In the scheme a V-type three-level atom is sent through a two-mode cavity filled with a coherent field. After the atom–cavity interaction and detection of the atomic state the cavity modes may evolve to a superposition of two-mode coherent states. As the scheme is based on resonant atom–cavity interaction, the required interaction time is short, which is important in view of the decoherence. Moreover, additional classical pulses are unnecessary before and after the atom–cavity interaction.
