Abstract

We find a new representation of all boundary conditions corresponding to the so-called point interactions. We show that there is one-to-one correspondence between one-dimensional point interactions and boundary conditions of the form with α,β,η∊ satisfying |η| = |α| 2 + |β| 2 = 1.

Simplified Solving Procedure for the One-Dimensional Schrodinger Equation with Asymmetrical Boundary Conditions

H. Puszkarski

We propose a new simplified procedure for finding the analytical solutions of the stationary one-dimensional Schrödinger equation, with asymmetric boundary conditions imposed on the equation. The essence of the method consists in expressing the general solution explicitly in terms of the boundary parameters in a form which, by itself, satisfies one of the boundary conditions involved; then, the other boundary condition gives straightforwardly the characteristic equation. This method may turn out to be beneficial with regard to the recently growing interest in one-dimensional quantum systems.

Boundary conditions in path integrals from point interactions for the path integral of the one-dimensional Dirac particle

Christian Grosche

A proposal is given, of how to implement point interactions and boundary conditions in the path integral. The starting point is a path-integral formulation of a Dirac particle in one dimension. The implementation of a point interaction yields, by means of a perturbation expansion, the corresponding Green function for a relativistic particle. In the non-relativistic limit several cases can be distinguished depending on which of the four possibilities of the point interaction has been chosen. By a proper combination of the various possibilities of implementing the point interaction, the whole range of the four-parameter family of boundary conditions for point interactions can be exploited, in the relativistic case as well as in the non-relativistic limit. In addition, making the strength of the point interaction infinitely repulsive yields boundary conditions at finite points on the real line. In particular, Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions emerge. The method is illustrated with some examples.

On Integrability of Many-body Problems with Point Interactions

Sergio A Albeverio, S. M. Fei, Pavel Kurasov

A study of the integrability of one-dimensional quantum mechanical many-body systems with general point interactions and boundary conditions describing the interactions which can be independent or dependent on the spin states of the particles is presented. The corresponding Bethe ansatz solutions, bound states and scattering matrices are explicitly given. Hamilton operators corresponding to special spin dependent boundary conditions are discussed.

Point interaction Hamiltonians in bounded domains

Ph. Blanchard, R. Figari, Andrea Mantile

Making use of recent techniques in the theory of self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators, we characterize the class of point interaction Hamiltonians in a three-dimensional bounded domain with regular boundaries. In the particular case of one point interaction acting in the center of a ball, we obtain an explicit representation of the point spectrum of the operator together with the corresponding eigenfunctions. These operators are used to build up a model system where the dynamics of a quantum particle depends on the state of a quantum bit.

On quantum mechanics on a half-line

The origin and the physical interpretation of boundary conditions for a free particle confined to a half-line are analysed. The authors consider potentials V(x,a, . . .) (depending upon parameters a, . . . and x in (- infinity , + infinity )) for which solutions psi (x,a, . . ., t) of the corresponding Schrodinger equation reduce, in a suitable limit a from a 0 , . . ., to solutions psi (x,t) of the Schrodinger equation for a free particle confined to a half-line satisfying the boundary condition ( delta psi / delta x)(x=0, t)=a psi (x=0, t) with real alpha = alpha (a 0 , . . .).
