Abstract

In this paper, we consider the interaction of the nonlinear coherent states (CSs) on a sphere with a three-level atom. Since these generalized CSs depend on the curvature of the sphere, this model enables us to investigate the curvature effects of the physical space. By using the time-dependent state of the atom-field system, we first study the curvature effects on the occupation probabilities of the atomic levels. We especially study the relation between the revival time of the atomic occupation probabilities and the curvature. Then, to study the curvature effects on the dynamical properties of the cavity field, we consider photon distributions, correlation functions, and Mandel parameters of the field. The cavity field in this atom-field system exhibits nonclassical features which depend on the curvature of the physical space.

Nonlinear optical effects on the atom–field interaction based on the nonlinear coherent states approach

Mojgan Momeni-Demneh, Ali Mahdifar, R. Roknizadeh

In this paper, to study the effects of a nonlinear medium on the atom–field interaction, we use the nonlinear coherent states approach. For this purpose, we choose the two-mode cross-Kerr as our nonlinear optical phenomena, and with the use of its algebra, we show that it can be considered as a deformed oscillator as well as a deformed su(2) algebra. Then we construct the associated two-mode nonlinear coherent states and investigate their statistical properties. After that, as an example of applicability of the constructed coherent states, we investigate the nonlinear effects of the medium on the dynamics of atom–field interaction within the framework of the coherent states. By using the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we study the effect of the nonlinear medium on the occupation probabilities of the atomic levels and consider the relation between the revival time of the atomic occupation probabilities and the nonlinear parameter of the medium. Then, to study the nonlinear effects on the dynamical properties of the cavity field, we consider the photon distribution, correlation function, Mandel parameters of the field, von Neumann entropy, and also the squeezing. Particularly, the nonlinearity of the media on the nonclassical properties of the two modes is clarified.

Curvature-induced nonclassicality in a generalized Jaynes–Cummings model

Somayeh Kourkinejat, Ali Mahdifar, Ehsan Amooghorban

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the influence of spatial curvature on the Jaynes–Cummings model (JCM). We employ an analog model of general relativity, where the cavity field is represented by oscillators on a circle instead of a straight line, so that increasing curvature corresponds to decreasing the circle’s radius. We investigate the nonclassical features of this quantum system arising from the interaction between a two-level atom and a deformed harmonic oscillator on a circle, which serves as curved-space counterpart to the flat oscillator. We also propose an experimental scheme to realize this curvature-dependent JCM, based on the intensity-dependent Jaynes–Cummings interaction that appears in a laser-driven trapped ion inside a Kerr medium. By analyzing the time evolution of the atom-field system, we examine how spatial curvature influences the Mandel parameter, entropy, and the behavior of the Wigner distribution function. Our results demonstrate that the spatial curvature plays a crucial role in controlling these nonclassical properties.

Effect of dielectric medium on the nonclassical properties of nonlinear sphere coherent states

Ehsan Amooghorban, Ali Mahdifar

In order to investigate the effect of a medium with dissipation and dispersion and also the curvature of the physical space on the properties of the incident quantum states, we use the quantization of electromagnetic field based on phenomenological approach to obtain input-output relations between radiations on both sides of dielectric slab. By using these relations the fidelity, the Wigner function, and also the quantum correlation of the outgoing state through dielectric slab are obtained for a situation in which the rightward incident state is a nonlinear coherent state on a sphere and the leftward incident state is a vacuum state. Here, the incident states are considered monochromatic and the modeling of the medium is given by the Lorentz' model. Accordingly, we study nonclassical properties of the output states such as the quantum entanglement. It will be observed that the nonclassical properties of the outgoing states depend strongly on the optical property of the medium and also on the curvature of the physical state.

Superposition of nonlinear coherent states on a sphere

T Hosseinzadeh, Ali Mahdifar, Ehsan Amooghorban

In this paper, by using the nonlinear coherent states on a sphere, we introduce superposition of the aforementioned coherent states. Then, we consider quantum optical properties of these new superposed states and compare these properties with the corresponding properties of the nonlinear coherent states on the sphere. Specifically, we investigate their characteristics function, photon-number distribution, Mandel parameter, quadrature squeezing, anti-bunching effect and Wigner function, and obtain the curvature effect on the properties of the superposed states. Finally, by using the trapped atom system, we introduce a theoretical scheme to generate superposition of the coherent states on the sphere.

Dynamics of a deformed atom cavity field system in presence of a Kerr-like medium

Arpita Chatterjee

In this paper, we investigate the interaction between a vee-type three-level atom and a single mode of the electromagnetic field in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium and an intensity-dependent coupling. We have elucidated the system by a nonlinear Hamiltonian constructed from the standard Jaynes–Cummings model by deforming the field operators and adding some nonlinear terms. Using the initial conditions that the atom is prepared in an excited state and the field is in a coherent state, the state vector of the entire system is determined analytically. The time evolution of nonclassical properties such as Mandel Q, quantum entanglement and position-momentum uncertainty relation (squeezing) of the field are investigated. The quasiprobability distributions are also computed for the resultant state. The effects of the detuning parameters, generalized Kerr medium and intensity-dependent coupling on the previous nonclassicality signs are analysed, in detail.

DYNAMICS OF STATES IN THE NONLINEAR INTERACTION REGIME BETWEEN A THREE-LEVEL ATOM AND GENERALIZED COHERENT STATES AND THEIR NON-CLASSICAL FEATURES

Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, Fatemeh Yadollahi

The present study investigates the interaction of an equidistant three-level atom and a single-mode cavity field that has been initially prepared in a generalized coherent state. The atom–field interaction is considered to be, in general, intensity-dependent. We suppose that the nonlinearity of the initial generalized coherent state of the field and the intensity-dependent coupling between atom and field are distinctly chosen. Interestingly, an exact analytical solution for the time evolution of the state of atom–field system can be found in this general regime in terms of the nonlinearity functions. Finally, the presented formalism has been applied to a few known physical systems such as Gilmore–Perelomov and Barut–Girardello coherent states of SU(1,1) group, as well as a few special cases of interest. Mean photon number and atomic population inversion will be calculated, in addition to investigating particular non-classicality features such as revivals, sub-Poissonian statistics and quadratures squeezing of the obtained states of the entire system. Also, our results will be compared with some of the earlier works in this particular subject.
