Mean field-finite size scaling transformations for the Z4spin model

Abstract

The recursion relations which result from the scaling law for the magnetisations of two finite systems surrounded by the mean field are obtained for the Z 4 spin model. Then, following a renormalisation group strategy, the phase diagrams and critical exponents are determined and studied. This method leads to a substantial improvement, at least for determining phase diagrams, with respect to mean field approximation or other renormalisation group techniques.

Application of a renormalisation-group-mean-field technique to the Z4spin model

José A. Riera

A combination of the renormalisation-group technique and the mean-field approximation is used to calculate the free-energy of the Z 4 spin model. Then the phase diagrams of this model in two and three dimensions are determined and the authors obtain useful information about the nature of the phase transitions.

Renormalisation group recursions by mean-field approximations

Joseph O. Indekeu, Amos Maritan, Attilio L. Stella

Within a renormalisation group strategy, different 'rescaled' mean-field approximations for the magnetisation are combined. Good qualitative estimates are obtained for the critical properties of classical and quantum spin systems. A particularly simple realisation of the method yields recursions for arbitrary dimensionality d. The critical couplings are accurate for all d, and have the correct asymptotic behaviour for d approaching infinity.

Improved mean-field-like renormalisation group approach for Z(q) symmetric spin models

Ernst Niebur, Jenő Sólyom

Various modifications of the mean-field renormalisation group method are analysed to study the convergence of the critical coupling and critical exponents to their exact values as the cluster size increases. Appropriate choice of the length scaling factor or of the scaling quantity can give appreciable improvement over the conventional procedure for short clusters. The best values are achieved when both the bulk and surface critical behaviour are explicitly taken into account.

Two-step renormalisation group for Ising systems

O. F. de Alcantara Bonfim, F. C. Sá Barreto, M. A. De Moura

A decimation transformation preceded by a mean-field renormalisation group has been used to obtain the critical properties of various d-dimensional lattices. The method improves substantially both exponents and critical couplings even for small size clusters when compared with decimation and mean-field renormalisation group methods.

Exact decimation transformation with mean-field approximation

Kun-Fa Tang, Jia-Zhen Hu

A new method is developed for calculating the critical temperature and exponents of spin systems, based on the exact decimation transformation and a mean-field approximation. Calculations of both exponents and critical couplings are much improved, even in the lowest approximation, when compared with other renormalisation group methods.

Critical properties of the Ashkin-Teller model from the mean-field renormalisation group approach

J. A. Plascak, F. C. Sá Barreto

By using small size clusters, which carry all the basic symmetries of the Ashkin-Teller model, the authors obtain within the mean-field renormalisation group approach the complete phase diagram of the model. Estimates of the thermal critical exponent are also obtained.
