Fermion mapping of boson-fermion pairs

Abstract

A fermion mapping of boson-fermion pairs is proposed. The mapping is applied to an exactly solvable two-level test model and shown to be useful for treating strong boson-fermion correlations in quantum systems.

Exactly solvable fermion-boson mapping representations

Osvaldo Civitarese, M. Reboiro

The Holstein-Primakoff boson mapping technique is applied to transform Hamiltonians defined in terms of the generators of the SU(2) and Sp(4) groups. These solvable models consist of a pair of fermions which interact with hard bosons. It is shown that the mapping to ideal bosons preserves the algebra and that exact matrix elements of the original fermionic Hamiltonian can be reconstructed from the bosonic representation.

An exact fermion-pair to boson mapping

Calvin W. Johnson

I derive in a novel fashion exact formulas for the calculation of general matrix elements, including the overlap (norm) matrix, between states constructed from fermion pairs. Mapping the fermion pairs to bosons, I show how to construct finite and exact (in the sense of preserving matrix elements) boson representations of the norm operator and one- and two-fermion operators. This may lead to a microscopic basis for the Interacting Boson Model, as well as new truncation schemes for the nuclear shell model.

Exact, finite, and Hermitian fermion-pair-to-boson mapping

Calvin W. Johnson, Joseph N. Ginocchio

We discuss a general, exact (in that matrix elements are preserved) mapping of fermion pairs to bosons, and find a simple factorization of the boson representation of fermion operators. This leads to boson Hamiltonians that are Hermitian and finite, with no more than two-body operators if the fermion Hamiltonian has at most two-body operators, and one-body boson transition operators if the fermion transition operator is one-body.

Fermion to boson mappings revisited

Joseph N. Ginocchio, Calvin W. Johnson

We briefly review various mappings of fermion pairs to bosons, including those based on mapping operators, such as Belyaev-Zelevinskii, and those on mapping states, such as Marumori; in particular we consider the work of Otsuka-Arima-Iachello, aimed at deriving the Interacting Boson Model. We then give a rigorous and unified description of state-mapping procedures which allows one to systematically go beyond Otsuka-Arima-Iachello and related approaches, along with several exact results.

Class of Exactly Solvable Pairing Models

J. Dukelsky, Carlos Esebbag, Peter Schuck

We present three classes of exactly solvable models for fermion and boson systems, based on the pairing interaction. These models are solvable in any dimension. As an example we show the first results for fermions interacting with repulsive pairing forces in a two-dimensional square lattice. In spite of the repulsive pairing force the exact results show attractive pair correlations.

Boson mapping at finite temperature: An application to the thermo field dynamics

Osvaldo Civitarese, M. Reboiro

The Holstein-Primakoff boson mapping at finite temperature and in the framework of the thermo field dynamics (TFD) is applied to treat a fermion-boson Hamiltonian. The interaction between pairs of fermions and bosons is constructed in a model which allows for a condensate. The evolution of the condensate as a function of the temperature is investigated.
