Auxiliary fields as a tool for computing analytical solutions of the Schrödinger equation

BERNARD SILVESTRE-BRAC, Claude Semay, Fabien Buisseret

We propose a new method to obtain approximate solutions for the Schrödinger equation with an arbitrary potential that possesses bound states. This method, relying on the auxiliary field technique, allows to find in many cases, analytical solutions. It offers a convenient way to study the qualitative features of the energy spectrum of bound states in any potential. In particular, we illustrate our method by solving the case of central potentials with power-law form and with logarithmic form. For these types of potentials, we propose very accurate analytical energy formulae which greatly improves the corresponding formulae that can be found in the literature.

Bound State Solutions of Schrödinger Equation for Generalized Morse Potential with Position-Dependent Mass

Altuğ Arda, R. Sever

The effective mass one-dimensional Schrödinger equation for the generalized Morse potential is solved by using Nikiforov—Uvarov method. Energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are computed analytically. The results are also reduced to the constant mass case. Energy eigenvalues are computed numerically for some diatomic molecules. They are in agreement with the ones obtained before.

ERS approximation for solving Schrödinger’s equation and applications

Hichem Eleuch, Michael Hilke

A new technique was recently developed to approximate the solution of the Schrödinger equation. This approximation (dubbed ERS) is shown to yield a better accuracy than the WKB-approximation. Here, we review the ERS approximation and its application to one and three-dimensional systems. In particular, we treat bound state solutions. We further focus on random potentials in a quantum wire and discuss the solution in the context of Anderson localization.
