We examine the decay of two correlated atoms to a reservoir prepared in its ground state and in a squeezed multimode vacuum state. We calculate the entropies for the atoms and use the index of correlation to show the decay and regeneration of correlations between the atoms as they interact with the reservoir.
In this paper, the quantum properties of a two-level atom interaction with squeezed vacuum reservoir is throughly analyzed. With the aid of the interaction Hamiltonian and the master equation, we obtain the time evolution of the expectation values of the atomic operators. Employing the steady-state solution of these equations, we calculate the power spectrum and the second-order correlation function for the interaction of two-level atom with squeezed vacuum reservoir. It is found that the half width of the power spectrum of the light increases with the squeeze parameter, r . Furthermore, in the absence of decay constant and interaction time, it enhances the probability for the atom to be in the upper level.
Our normal understanding of the dissipative relaxation of a quantum system interacting with a reservoir or heat bath leads us to expect that the final state of the quantum system is a mixed state characteristic of one subsystem in equilibrium with the larger reservoir. We show that the broadband squeezed vacuum has such strong correlations in its quantum noise that, although it represents a true reservoir, the decay of subsystems, such as pairs of atoms or oscillators interacting with a squeezed reservoir, relaxes to a pure state that reflects these strong correlations.
We investigate the time evolution of entanglement between two two-level atoms which are coupled to a common multimode electromagnetic reservoir and simultaneously driven by a coherent field. We find that the entanglement can always be created and maintained with a moderate intensity of the driving field during the track of approaching steady entangled states when both atoms are initially in their ground states and the reservoir is in the vacuum state or the squeezed vacuum state. We also show that the steady-state entanglement between the atoms can be enhanced by use of the coherent field when the reservoir is in the weakly squeezed vacuum state. More interestingly, in the squeezed reservoir case, the sudden death period in the time evolution of the entanglement can be removed by use of the coherent driving field.
