Abstract

We propose general conditions for a measure of total correlations to be an entanglement monotone using its convex-roof extension, as the natural way to generalize the Entanglement of Formation to the multipartite scenario.

Full Additivity of the Entanglement of Formation

Gerardo A. Paz-Silva, John Henry Reina

We present a general strategy that allows a more flexible method for the construction of fully additive multipartite entanglement monotones than the ones so far reported in the literature of axiomatic entanglement measures. Within this framework we give a proof of a conjecture of outstanding implications in information theory: the full additivity of the Entanglement of Formation.

Conditional Entanglement

Dong Yang, Michał Horodecki, Z. D. Wang

Based on the ideas of {\it quantum extension} and {\it quantum conditioning}, we propose a generic approach to construct a new kind of entanglement measures called {\it conditional entanglement}. The new measures, built from the known entanglement measures, are convex, automatically {\it super-additive}, and even smaller than the regularized versions of the generating measures. More importantly, new measures can also be built directly from measures of correlations, enabling us to introduce an {\it additive} measure and generalize it to a multipartite entanglement measure.

Multipartite entanglement measure and complete monogamy relation

Yu Jing Guo, Lin Zhang

Although many different entanglement measures have been proposed so far, much less is known in the multipartite case, which leads to the previous monogamy relations in the literature being not complete. We establish here a strict framework for defining the multipartite entanglement measure (MEM): apart from the postulates of the bipartite measure, i.e., vanishing on separable measures and nonincreasing under local operations and classical communication, a complete MEM should additionally satisfy the unification condition and the hierarchy condition. We then come up with a complete monogamy formula for the unified MEM (an MEM is called a unified MEM if it satisfies the unification condition) and a tightly complete monogamy relation for the complete MEM (an MEM is called a complete MEM if it satisfies both the unification condition and the hierarchy condition). Consequently, we propose MEMs which are multipartite extensions of entanglement of formation (EoF), concurrence, tangle, Tsallis $q$ entropy of entanglement, R\'enyi $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ entropy of entanglement, the convex-roof extension of negativity, and negativity. We show that (i) the extensions of EoF, concurrence, tangle, and Tsallis $q$ entropy of entanglement are complete MEMs; (ii) multipartite extensions of R\'enyi $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ entropy of entanglement, negativity, and the convex-roof extension of negativity are unified MEMs but not complete MEMs; and (iii) all these multipartite extensions are completely monogamous, and the ones which are defined by the convex-roof structure (except for the R\'enyi $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ entropy of entanglement and the convex-roof extension of negativity) are not only completely monogamous but also tightly completely monogamous. In addition, as a byproduct, we find a class of states that satisfy the additivity of EoF. We also find a class of tripartite states one part of which can be maximally entangled with the other two parts simultaneously according to the definition of mixed maximally entangled state (MMES) in Li et al. [Z. Li, M. Zhao, S. Fei, H. Fan, and W. Liu, Quantum Inf. Comput. 12, 0063 (2012)]. Consequently, we improve the definition of maximally entangled state (MES) and prove that the only MES is the pure MES.

Evaluable multipartite entanglement measures: Multipartite concurrences as entanglement monotones

Rafał Demkowicz-Dobrzański, Andreas Buchleitner, Marek Kuś +1 more

We discuss the monotonicity of systematically constructed quantities aiming at the quantification of the entanglement properties of multipartite quantum systems, under local operations and classical communication. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the monotonicity of generalized multipartite concurrences which qualifies them as legitimate entanglement measures.

Total correlations as multi-additive entanglement monotones

Gerardo A. Paz-Silva, John Henry Reina

We propose general conditions for a measure of total correlations as an entanglement monotone using its pure and mixed convex-roof extension. In doing so, we derive crucial theorems and propose a concrete candidate for a total correlation measure which is a multi-additive multipartite entanglement monotone. We perform numerical simulations that show, comparatively, the dependence of the proposed coherent total correlation measure on the size of the register for several different quantum states and for global and pairwise correlation measures. We also show how to simplify some of the conditions required for monotonicity, in particular that a function must be non-increasing under local operations and classical communications.
