Abstract

Impact of the ultrashort electromagnetic pulses on the atom leads to shake-up of the latter and entails different inelastic processes inside the atom. This is accompanied by the braking reemission of the ultrashort electromagnetic pulse. This paper deals with the connection between the spectrum of reemitted ultrashort pulse photons and the transition of the atomic electrons into certain states. Partial spectrums of reemission allow to relate the directivity diagrams with the probability of atoms excitation in different states.

Spectra induced by interactions of atoms with ultrashort electromagnetic pulses

Есеев Марат Каналбекович, V. I. Matveev, Абикулова Наталья Вячеславовна

An ultrashort pulse of an electromagnetic field incident on an atom shakes the atom and gives rise to various electron transitions in it. These processes are accompanied by the reemission of the incident ultrashort pulse. This paper studies the relation between the spectra of reemitted photons of an ultrashort pulse and the transitions of atomic electrons into particular states. The obtained partial reemission spectra can allow one to relate direction patterns to the probability of the excitation of an atom into different states.

Emission and electron transitions in an atom interacting with an ultrashort electromagnetic pulse

V. I. Matveev

Electron transitions and emission of an atom interacting with a spatially inhomogeneous ultrashort electromagnetic pulse are considered. The excitation and ionization probabilities are obtained as well as the spectra and cross sections of the reemission of such a pulse by atoms. By way of an example, one-and two-electron inelastic processes accompanying the interaction of ultrashort pulses with hydrogen-and helium-like atoms are considered. The developed technique makes it possible to take into account exactly the spatial non-uniformity of the ultrashort pulse field and photon momenta in the course of reemission.

Inelastic processes and the reemission of attosecond and shorter electromagnetic pulses at the interaction with atoms

Dmitry N. Makarov, V. I. Matveev

Inelastic processes and the reemission of attosecond and shorter electromagnetic pulses by atoms have been considered within the analytical solution of the Schrödinger equation in the sudden perturbation approximation. A method of calculations with the exact inclusion of spatial inhomogeneity of the field of an ultrashort pulse and the momenta of photons in the reemission processes has been developed. The results have been presented in the form of analytical formulas. The probabilities of inelastic processes and spectra of reemission of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses by single-electron atoms have been calculated.

A method of calculations with the exact inclusion of spatial inhomogeneity of the field of an ultrashort pulse and the momenta of photons in the reemission processes has been developed. The results have been presented in the form of analytical formulas.

Electron transitions and the spectrum of radiation emitted by an atom interacting with an ultrashort electromagnetic pulse

V. I. Matveev

Electron transitions and the spectrum of radiation emitted by an atom interacting with an ultrashort electromagnetic pulse are studied based on the sudden perturbation approximation. The excitation and ionization probabilities, the spectra of pulse reradiation by the atom, and the reradiation cross sections are calculated. It is concluded that the reradiation of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses by multielectron atoms is of a coherent nature.
