Abstract

We generate O-band heralded single-photons from a 2.6-mm-long dispersion-tailored silicon wire waveguide. The broadband nature of the source suggests potential for simultaneous generation of multi-wavelength heralded single-photons.

We theoretically demonstrate the generation of spectrally pure (purity ~ 95%) heralded single photons, and also broadband (~60-nm around 1550-nm) polarization-entangled photon pairs (concurrence>0.96), at telecom wavelengths via extensive dispersion engineering in silicon nano-waveguides.

We leverage the high spontaneous four-wave-mixing nonlinearity (γ≈4150/W·m) of silicon coupled-resonator optical waveguides to demonstrate a telecommunications-band, heralded single photon source. The generated light is antibunched with g(2)(0) ≈ 0.19 ±0.03 at low power.
