An introduction to quantum information processing: applications and realizations

Timothy P. Spiller, William J. Munro, S. D. Barrett +1 more

The ideas behind Quantum Information Processing (QIP) began to appear about twenty years ago and theoretical developments have been appearing ever since. Over the last decade quantum experiments have begun to realize QIP and point the way towards the routes for future quantum information technology. This review is a simple introduction to QIP for non-experts. It discusses the basic ideas of and the underpinning quantum theory needed to understand them, as well as various applications and algorithms, and some of the main candidate routes for realizing QIP.

Quantum Information Processing: A brief overview on Quantum Teleportation

Sovik Roy

Quantum Information Processing (QIP) exploits the principles of quantum mechanics to perform information storage, communication, and computation in ways that are fundamentally impossible within classical frameworks. This article presents a pedagogical overview of the mathematical foundations of quantum information theory, including qubits, Hilbert spaces, linear operators, quantum measurements, tensor products, density operators, and quantum entanglement. Building upon these concepts, we provide a detailed introduction to quantum teleportation, one of the most remarkable protocols in quantum communication. The discussion covers the no cloning theorem, the original teleportation protocol by Bennett et al., experimental realisations of quantum teleportation, and extensions involving probabilistic and multiqubit teleportation schemes. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of entanglement as a communication resource, together with the study of teleportation channels based on bipartite and multipartite quantum states. Various quantitative measures of entanglement, including concurrence, negativity, entanglement of formation, and relative entropy of entanglement, are reviewed alongside teleportation fidelity as a performance metric. Furthermore, the interplay between Bell nonlocality, mixed state entanglement, and teleportation efficiency is examined, followed by a survey of advanced developments such as controlled teleportation, bidirectional teleportation, cluster state teleportation, and recent advances in the Quantum 2.0 era. This review aims to provide students, researchers, and engineers with a coherent introduction to the theoretical foundations and practical significance of quantum teleportation in emerging quantum technologies.

Circuit Quantum Electrodynamics: Towards Realizing Scalable Quantum Information Processing

Dhritiman Roy Ghatak

The present review attempts to sum up the advancements in circuit quantum electrodynamics (CQED) that has raised our hope for realizing scalable quantum information processing (QIP). Research reveals the advantages of (QIP) over classical information processing in terms of information storage capacity and speed of processing. In this context, the mathematical framework for QIP, like Quantum Fisher Information and computations based on Hilbert space is reviewed. CQED architectures of ever improving configuration are being reported in technical literature. Further, improvements are noticed in coupling strengths between the qubit and the resonator by application of robust protocols. The review highlights the Research efforts and the advancements achieved through faithful quantum state transfer between spatially separated qubits. The important phenomenon of entanglement, deterministic and multipartite, as the cornerstone for scalable QIP is discussed to bring forth the advancements achieved in reducing decoherence and decay. The author sums up the review with a discussion of selected patents and commercial endeavours in the field.
