Local state probability of higher-spin CSOS models

Abstract

An exact solution of the local state probability (spontaneous magnetization) of a fusion cyclic solid-on-solid (CSOS) model is obtained for a special (2-fusion) case. It is composed of ratios of theta functions and branching coefficients. Using the modular property its critical behaviour is analysed. In addition, a conjecture for the local state probability of the N-fusion CSOS model is proposed.

Operator content of the fusion cyclic solid-on-solid model

Doyeon Kim, Jae Dong Noh, Paul A. Pearce

The fusion model of the L-state cyclic solid-on-solid (CSOS) model is considered at criticality. Each Z L -charge sector of the fusion CSOS model is related to a sum of total spin sectors of the fusion vertex model with a seam on which the vertex weights are modified by a phase factor. The latter in turn becomes the higher-spin XXZ quantum chain with a twisted boundary condition in the extremely anisotropic limit. Using the known operator content of the higher-spin XXZ chain, the authors deduce that of the fusion CSOS model. The modular invariant partition function of the fusion CSOS at fusion level k is a sum of products of the Z(k) parafermionic and free boson sectors with the effective coupling g'=L 2 (k-lambda/pi) for L odd and g"=L 2 (1/k-lambda/pi)/4 for L even, where lambda is the crossing parameter. Where L is odd and a multiple of k, or when L/2 is a multiple of k for L even, the modular invariant partition function becomes a simple product of the Z(k) parafermionic and the Gaussian partition function.

Local state probabilities for an infinite sequence of solvable lattice models

Atsuo Kuniba, Tetsu Yajima

The authors present a new infinite sequence of solvable lattice models. They contrast strikingly with the eight-vertex solid-on-solid models and admit extra degrees of freedom for the local fluctuation variables. The exact one-point functions are obtained. The result is neatly described in terms of theta-function identities. Using their modular invariance, critical behaviour is studied and exponents evaluated.

Conjectures on the exact solution of three-dimensional (3D) simple orthorhombic Ising lattices

Z.D. Zhang

We report conjectures on the three-dimensional (3D) Ising model of simple orthorhombic lattices, together with details of calculations for a putative exact solution. Two conjectures, an additional rotation in the fourth curled-up dimension and weight factors on the eigenvectors, are proposed to serve as a boundary condition to deal with the topologic problem of the 3D Ising model. The partition function of the 3D simple orthorhombic Ising model is evaluated by spinor analysis, employing these conjectures. Based on the validity of the conjectures, the critical temperature of the simple orthorhombic Ising lattices could be determined by the relation of KK* = KK′ + KK″ + K′K″ or sinh 2K · sinh 2(K′ + K″ + (K′K″/K)) = 1. For a simple cubic Ising lattice, the critical point is putatively determined to locate exactly at the golden ratio , as derived from K* = 3K or sinh 2K · sinh 6K = 1. If the conjectures would be true, the specific heat of the simple orthorhombic Ising system would show a logarithmic singularity at the critical point of the phase transition. The spontaneous magnetization of the simple orthorhombic Ising ferromagnet is derived explicitly by the perturbation procedure, following the conjectures. The spin correlation functions are discussed on the terms of the Pfaffians, by defining the effective skew-symmetric matrix Aeff. The true range κx of the correlation and the susceptibility of the simple orthorhombic Ising system are determined by procedures similar to those used for the two-dimensional Ising system. The putative critical exponents derived explicitly for the simple orthorhombic Ising lattices are α = 0, β = 3/8, γ = 5/4, δ = 13/3, η = 1/8 and ν = 2/3, showing the universality behaviour and satisfying the scaling laws. The cooperative phenomena near the critical point are studied and the results based on the conjectures are compared with those of approximation methods and experimental findings. The putative solutions have been judged by several criteria. The deviations of the approximation results and the experimental data from the solutions are interpreted. Based on the solution, it is found that the 3D-to-2D crossover phenomenon differs with the 2D-to-1D crossover phenomenon and there is a gradual crossover of the exponents from the 3D to the 2D values. Special attention is also paid to the extra energy caused by the introduction of the fourth curled-up dimension and the states at/near infinite temperature revealed by the weight factors of the eigenvectors. The physics beyond the conjectures and the existence of the extra dimension are discussed. The present work is not only significant for statistical and condensed matter physics, but also fill the gap between the quantum field theory, cosmology theory, high-energy particle physics, graph theory and computer science.

Factorization of density matrices in the critical RSOS models

Daniel Westerfeld, Maxime Großpietsch, Hannes Kakuschke +1 more

Abstract We study reduced density matrices of the integrable critical restricted solid-on-solid (RSOS) model in a particular topological sector containing the ground state. Similar as in the spin- 1 / 2 Heisenberg model it has been observed that correlation functions of this model on short segments can be ‘factorized’: they are completely determined by a single nearest-neighbour two-point function ω and a set of structure functions. While ω captures the dependence on the system size and the state of the system the structure functions can be expressed in terms of the possible operators on the segment, in the present case representations of the Temperley–Lieb algebra TL n , and are independent of the model parameters. We present explicit results for the function ω in the infinite system ground state of the model and compute multi-point local height probabilities for up to four adjacent sites for the RSOS model and the related three-point correlation functions of non-Abelian s u ( 2 ) k anyons.

FUSION OF A-D-E LATTICE MODELS

Yu‐Kui Zhou, Paul A. Pearce

Fusion hierarchies of A-D-E face models are constructed. The fused critical D, E and elliptic D models yield new solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations with bond variables on the edges of faces in addition to the spin variables on the corners. It is shown directly that the row transfer matrices of the fused models satisfy special functional equations. Intertwiners between the fused A-D-E models are constructed by fusing the cells that intertwine the elementary face weights. As an example, we calculate explicitly the fused 2×2 face weights of the 3-state Potts model associated with the D4 diagram as well as the fused intertwiner cells for the A5-D4 intertwiner. Remarkably, this 2×2 fusion yields the face weights of both the Ising model and 3-state CSOS models.

Bethe ansatz for higher-spinXYZmodels - low-lying excitations

Takashi Takebe

A higher-spin generalization of the XYZ spin chain defined by the fusion procedure is considered. The energy and momentum of the ground state and low-lying excited states of the model are computed by means of an isomorphism between a space of theta functions on which the Sklyanin algebra acts and a space obtained by the fusion procedure.
