Bounded coherent states and excitonic systems

Abstract

New bounded coherent state construction, based in a Keldysh conjecture, is presented. The particular group structure arising from the model leads a new symmetry transformations for the coherent state system. The emergent new symmetry transformations are reminiscent of the Bogoliubov ones. This construction is applied to describe an excitonic system. We discuss how the symmetry of these transformations is intrinsically related with the stability and the behavior of the physical systems as in the excitonic case.

Excitonic coherent states: symmetries and thermalization

Diego Julio Cirilo-Lombardo

In previous work [1] new bounded coherent states construction, based on a Keldysh conjecture, was introduced. As was shown in [1] the particular group structure arising from the model leads to new symmetry transformations for the coherent states system. As was shown, the emergent new symmetry transformation is reminiscent of the Bogoliubov ones and was successfully applied to describe an excitonic system showing that is intrinsically related to the stability and its general physical behavior. The group theoretical structure of the model permits to analyze its thermal properties in theoretical frameworks that arise as a consequence of the definition of the squeezed-coherent states as transformed vacua under the automorphism group of the commutation relations, as the thermofield dynamics case given by Umezawa and other similar developments [5]. On the other hand, the idea of a possible Bose--Einstein condensation (BEC) of excitons in semiconductors has attracted the attention of both experimentalists and theoreticians for more than three decades being one of the main questions what happens with the influence of non zero temperature in the case that such condensation really exists [2]. In this paper we considered the theoretical treatment of the excitonic behaviour by mean a new coherent state construction of bounded states in a quantum field theoretical context.

On coherent states description of exciton systems: NLSE equations and hydrodynamics

Diego Julio Cirilo-Lombardo

The exciton system is described by means of specially constructed coherent states (CS), according to an idea of L.V. Keldysh long ago. The system is analyzed from the geometric point of view and from the relevant symmetry group contained in the displacement operator as generador of the CS system in the Klauder–Perelomov sense. Explicitly important quantities involving the quantum statistics of the system (partition function, mean density n and the Yuen limit) are calculated and briefly discussed in relation to the known case of pure bosons (e.g. photons). The Bogoliubov type transformations for the field operators of the Wannier–Mott type exciton system are presented in an exact way (in sharp contrast with the case of [11] where only a rough approximation was given) showing how these transformations induce nonlinearity (cubic at first order) in the Schrodinger equation of the system. The conditions for a hydrodynamic description of the original Keldysh model, as the possibility of a BEC (Bose–Einstein Condensation), are discussed.

Two new types of quantum states generated via higher powers of Bogoliubov’s transformation

Wei Wu, Ling-An Wu

By applying higher powers of Bogoliubov’s transformation operator b†=ν*a+μ*a† to the even and odd coherent states we construct mathematically two new types of quantum states. Various special functions and mathematical formulations are used to obtain the matrix elements for the states in the coherent state representation. The nonclassical nature of these states is found to be related to their quantum coherence in phase space. The interference effects can also be regarded as a consequence of the oscillatory behavior of the special functions in the structure of the states.

Bogoliubov theory for mutually coherent condensates

Paolo Tommasini, E. J. V. de Passos, A. F. R. de Toledo Piza +2 more

We analyze the mean-field equilibrium states of a homogeneous Bose-Einstein condensate of boson particles in different internal states, possibly in the presence of an internal Josephson interaction, and we describe the quantum fluctuations by constructing an explicit form of the Bogoliubov transformation that characterizes the quasiparticle excitations of the system. The derivation of the Bogoliubov transformation is based on a simple geometrical picture which leads to a convenient parametrization of the transformation. Our calculations of physical properties, such as depletions and phonon velocities, as well as our discussion of stability, indicate the sense and the extent to which the internal Josephson interaction controls the many-body physics of multicomponent phase coherent matter.

Symmetry as a source of hidden coherent structures in quantum physics: General outlook and examples

V. P. Karassiov

A general algebraic approach incorporating both invariance groups and dynamical symmetry algebras is developed to reveal hidden coherent structures (closed complexes and configurations) in quantum manybody physics models due to symmetries of their Hamiltonians H . Its general ideas are manifested on some recent new examples: (1) G-invariant biphotons and a related SU (2)-invariant treatment of unpolarized light; (2) quasispin clusters in nonlinear models of quantum optics; and (3) construction of composite particles and (para)fields from G -invariant clusters due to internal symmetries.

A possible generalisation of the coherent states for free fields

G. Calucci

It is shown explicitly how a Bogoliubov type transformation acting on coherent states gives rise to states where the mean values of the field strengths keep the original values while the mean values of the squared strengths or the correlation functions can, within some bounds be prescribed independently.
