Diffusion in the one-dimensional Ising model

Abstract

The critical dynamics of the one-dimensional Ising system with conserved magnetisation is studied by the real-space renormalisation group approach. The relaxation of odd and even spin-operator perturbations is calculated. The critical exponent obtained by an exact transformation is z=3 in agreement with the conventional theory.

Critical diffusion in a two-dimensional Ising system

Y Achiam

The relaxation of an Ising spin system which conserves the magnetization is analyzed using the time-dependent real-space renormalization group. The critical-dynamic exponent is found to be 3.74, close to the value suggested by the conventional theory.

A real space time-dependent renormalisation group of the one-dimensional Ising model

Y Achiam

The critical slowing down, and its dynamic exponent are studied in the one-dimensional Glauber-Ising model. The calculations serve as an example of the application of the ideas of the real space renormalisation group in time-dependent problems.

One-dimensional Ising model with long-range interactions: A renormalization-group treatment

Sergio Alejandro Cannas

The one-dimensional Ising model with ferromagnetic interactions which decay as 1/${\mathit{r}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}$ is considered. Using a real-space renormalization group scheme (RG) we calculate the critical temperature and the correlation-length critical exponent as a function of \ensuremath{\alpha}. General asymptotic properties are obtained for arbitrary values of the rescaling length b of the RG transformation. Several rigorous results are recovered exactly in the limit b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}. We obtain a b=\ensuremath{\infty} extrapolation of the critical temperature for arbitrary values of \ensuremath{\alpha}>1, which we conjecture aproximates with high precision the exact one. In particular, we obtain the value ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{c}}$/J=${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{2}$/12 for the 1/${\mathit{r}}^{2}$ model.

Nonuniversal critical dynamical behavior in 1D spin systems

Eduardo Lage

Recent results concerning non-universality in the dynamical critical behavior of the one-dimensional Ising model, are generalised to several formulations of the Potts model, using arguments based on domain wall motion. By applying real-space renormalisation group methods, the authors also study the dynamical Ising model, with single flips, both for a period distribution of nearest-neighbor exchanges and for the random chain (with nonzero couplings). They show that the critical dynamical exponent is z=1+J M /J m where J M (J m ) is the greatest (smallest) of the exchanges.

Critical Dynamics of an Interface in 1+ε Dimensions

Richard Bausch, V. Dohm, H. K. Janssen +1 more

A model describing the relaxation dynamics of an interface of Ising-like systems is introduced. By means of renormalized field theory in $d=1+\ensuremath{\epsilon}$ dimensions the dynamic critical exponent is found as $z=2+\ensuremath{\epsilon}\ensuremath{-}\frac{1}{2}{\ensuremath{\epsilon}}^{2}+O({\ensuremath{\epsilon}}^{3})$. Interpolation with the known result near four dimensions yields good agreement with a high-temperature expansion and with recent real-space and Monte Carlo renormalization-group calculations in two dimensions.

Kawasaki dynamics in the Ising chain: a renormalisation group treatment

J M Nunes da Silva, Eduardo Lage

Real-space renormalisation group techniques are applied to obtain the critical dynamic behaviour of the Ising linear chain, subjected to Kawasaki dynamics. The critical dynamic exponent is found to be z=5 and z=2, respectively, for ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbour interactions. The authors also show that a small admixture of Glauber dynamics will lead to the non-conserved behaviour (z=2).
