Cluster state entanglement of charge qubits

Abstract

The cluster state is a special, highly entangled quantum state that provides a universal resource on which to perform measurement-based quantum computation. In this paper, we propose a scheme for the generation of such entanglement in a solid-state medium by the suppression of resonant tunneling of a ballistic electron by a nearby single-electron charge qubit. To investigate the viability of this scheme for the creation of cluster states, we performed numerical simulations and studied the entanglement interaction in detail. We show that high levels of entanglement can be achieved, with an average concurrence of 0.968.

Cluster State Computation with Quantum‐Dot Charge Qubits

Matthew Lubelski Katz, Jingbo B. Wang

Quantum computers are expected to far surpass the capabilities of today′s most powerful supercomputers, particularly in areas such as the theoretical simulation of quantum systems, cryptography, and information processing. The cluster state is a special, highly entangled quantum state that forms the universal resource on which measurement‐based quantum computation can be performed. This paper provides a brief review of the theoretical foundations of cluster state quantum computation and how it evolved from the traditional model of digital computers. It then proposes a scheme for the generation of such entanglement in a solid‐state medium through the suppression of resonant tunneling of a ballistic electron by a single‐electron charge qubit. To investigate the viability of the scheme for the creation of cluster states, numerical calculations are performed in which the entanglement interaction is modeled in detail.

Cluster-state preparation and multipartite entanglement analyzer with fermions

Xinglai Zhang, Mang Feng, K. Gao

Quantum cluster states and entangled-state analyzers are essential to measurement-based quantum computing. We propose to generate a quantum cluster state and to make a multipartite entanglement analyzer by using noninteracting free electrons or conduction electrons in quantum dots, based on polarizing beam splitters, charge detectors, and single-spin rotations. Our schemes are deterministic without the need of qubit-qubit interaction.

One-step generation of cluster states in superconducting charge qubits coupled with a nanomechanical resonator

Gang Chen, Zidong Chen, Lixian Yu +1 more

We present a scalable solid-state system in which the superconducting charge qubits are coupled with a nanomechanical resonator (NAMR) to achieve highly entangled cluster states, which are responsible for one-way quantum computing via single-qubit measurements. Since the NAMR can play the essential role of the data bus, the long-range interactions among the qubits can occur. Therefore, without using the interacting picture we can directly obtain the long-range Ising-like unitary operator ${U}_{z}(\ensuremath{\lambda})=\mathrm{exp}[i\ensuremath{\lambda}{S}_{z}^{2}]$ with ${S}_{z}$ the collective spin operator in $z$ direction and $\ensuremath{\lambda}$ a parameter, which is insensitive to the thermal state of the NAMR. Based on this unitary operator, a set of highly entangled cluster states can be produced by efficient one-step generation. Moreover, the robustness of the highly entangled cluster states with respect to unavoidable parameter variations is also demonstrated.

Producing Cluster States in Charge Qubits and Flux Qubits

Tetsufumi Tanamoto, Yu-xi Liu, Shinobu Fujita +2 more

We propose a method to efficiently generate cluster states in charge qubits, both semiconducting and superconducting, as well as flux qubits. We show that highly entangled cluster states can be realized by a "one-touch" entanglement operation by tuning gate bias voltages for charge qubits. We also investigate the robustness of these cluster states for nonuniform qubits, which are unavoidable in solid-state systems. We find that quantum computation based on cluster states is a promising approach for solid-state qubits.

One-step preparation of cluster states in quantum-dot molecules

Guo‐Ping Guo, Hui Zhang, Tao Tu +1 more

Cluster states, a special type of highly entangled states, are a universal resource for measurement-based quantum computation. Here, we propose an efficient one-step generation scheme for cluster states in semiconductor quantum dot molecules, where qubits are encoded on singlet and triplet states of two coupled quantum dots. By applying a collective electrical field or simultaneously adjusting interdot bias voltages of all double-dot molecules, we get a switchable Ising-like interaction between any two adjacent quantum molecule qubits. The initialization, the single-qubit measurement, and the experimental parameters are discussed. It is shown that preparation of large cluster states and one-way quantum computation are implementable in semiconductor quantum dots with the present techniques.

Scheme for Generating Cluster States with Charge Qubits in a Cavity

Kehui Song

Based on superconducting charge qubits (SCCQs) coupled to a single-mode microwave cavity, we propose a scheme for generating charge cluster states. For all SCCQs, the controlled gate voltages are all in their degeneracy points, the quantum information is encoded in two logic states of charge basis. The generation of the multi-qubit cluster state can be achieved step by step on a pair of nearest-neighbor qubits. Considering effective long-rang coupling, we provide an efficient way to one-step generating of a highly entangled cluster state, in which the qubit-qubit coupling is mediated by the cavity mode. Our quantum operations are insensitive to the initial state of the cavity mode by removing the influence of the cavity mode via the periodical evolution of the system. Thus, our operation may be against the decoherence from the cavity.
