Photoassociation Reactions H+D + and H + +D in Ultrashort Pulse Laser Fields

Abstract

The photoassociation reactions H+D + and H + +D induced by the one- and two-colour laser pulses are theoretically studied. The reactions occur through two channels: (i) H(1S)+D + → HD + , and (ii) H + +D(1S) → HD + . The reaction probability through channel (ii) is higher than through channel (i). The populations of the products H + +D and HD + and the ratio of H + +D to HD + can be controlled by laser pulses. The two-colour laser pulses can more efficiently lower the dissociation probability and therefore enhance the yield ratio of the product HD + .

Photoassociation reaction of H+D+ in two chirped pulses

Niu Ying-Yu, Rong Wang, Jun-Ling Xiu

The photoassociation reaction H+D+ induced by two chirped pulses is theoretically studied. The first pulse is employed to accelerate the collision pairs, and the second pulse is used to enhance the yield ratio of HD+. The optimal parameters of the second pulse and the population of product HD+ depend on the chirp rate of the first pulse. The population of the product HD+ can be controlled by the delay time between the two laser pulses.

Control of photoassociation reaction F+H→HF with ultrashort laser pulse

Libo Liu, Niu Ying-Yu, Kai‐Jun Yuan +1 more

The laser-induced vibrational state-selectivity of product HF in photoassociation reaction H+F→HF is theoretically investigated by using the time-dependent quantum wave packet method. The population transfer process from the continuum state down to the bound vibrational states can be controlled by the driving laser. The effects of laser pulse parameters and the initial momentum of the two collision atoms on the vibrational population of the product HF are discussed in detail. Photodissociation accompanied with the photoassociation process is also described.

Comparative study of the photoassociation reaction of He + X+→ HeX+ (X = H, D): Including multiphoton transitions and dissociations

Su‐Hua Jing, Binbin Wang, Xiao‐Yun Zhou +1 more

Abstract Using the time‐dependent quantum wave packet method, the photoassociation (PA) processes of He + H +→ HeH+ and He + D +→ HeD+, driven by the sin2‐shaped femtosecond laser pulse in the electronic ground state, including multiphoton transitions and dissociations, are investigated for a wide range of initial collision momenta spanning from 1 to 4 a.u. (or for the collision energy roughly in the ranges of 0.009∼0.148 eV and 0.006∼0.089 eV for HeH+ and HeD+ systems, respectively). It is found that, at some collision momenta, multiphoton transitions to deeply bound states are inevitable to occur and can greatly decrease the PA probability of the target state that selected is the vibrational state v = 6. For the dissociation process, the higher‐order (two‐ and three‐photon) dissociations, measured from the target state, tend to be significant at relative high collision energies, which implies that above‐threshold dissociations may also be an important loss mechanism in the PA process. In addition, it is also shown that the higher‐order dissociation is much stronger for HeH+ systems than that for HeD+ systems at a given collision momentum, and could be enhanced by the strong transitions among deeply bound states.

Photoassociation reaction of OH molecules through reverse ladder transition

Ying‐Yu Niu, Rong Wang Rong Wang

Photoassociation via reverse ladder transition controlled by two and four laser pulses is investigated using the time-dependent quantum wave packet method. The calculated results show that the amplitudes of the pulses have an enormous effect on the target population and total yield of association. For the target state with a high energy level, the population of background states can reduce the state-selectivity. Although, the total yield of association is decreased, the four pulses can induce the population transferring to low vibrational levels, and the state-selectivity of the target state is high.

Formation of 85 Rb 2 ultracold molecules via photoassociation by two-color laser fields modulating the Gaussian amplitude

Yin Hui Huang, Wei Zhang, Gao‐Ren Wang +2 more

The formations of ${}^{85}{\text{Rb}}_{2}$ molecules via photoassociation (PA) steered by two-color laser fields are explored theoretically in order to find an efficient and robust PA scheme. The PA processes steered by the PA pulses modulated by two Gaussian pulses and by two chirped pulses are discussed and compared in detail. The two pulses are coherent in the picosecond range and reach their maxima at the same time. The influences of the linear chirp rate, the frequency difference between two pulses, and the phase shift of the modulated envelope with respect to the maximum of the Gaussian envelope on the PA process are investigated. The yield of photoassociated molecules on vibrational levels with a binding energy of $>$1.0 cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ with respect to the $5S+5{P}_{1/2}$ dissociation limit can apparently be enhanced by choosing proper pulse parameters. Especially, the two-color laser field modulated by two chirped pulses can raise the PA efficiency on one side, and weaken the dependence of the PA process on phase shift on the other side.
