On-chip photon pair source in silicon waveguide

Woncheol Shin, Kyungdeuk Park, Heedeuk Shin

An on-chip photon pair source is fabricated on a silicon-on-insulator chip for quantum information science. Photon pairs by spontaneous four-wave mixing are investigated theoretically and experimentally, showing high coincidence-to-accidental coincidence ratio of 524.

Quantum Photon-Pair Generation in Silicon Core Fibers

Davide Rizzotti, Stefano Signorini, C. M. Harvey +2 more

We report, to the best of our knowledge, the first demonstration of a telecom photon-pair source based on a silicon core fiber, published by Rizzotti, et al., APL photonics 9 (2024). The 58 mm long fiber works at room temperature and shows brightness and coincidence-to-accidental ratio comparable to state-of-the-art.

We report on-chip interference fringes of very high visibility 89% from heralded single photons from separate ultra-bright silicon micro-ring resonator sources as 4-fold coincidences. The reconfigurable chip is also used to measure multipair fringes and conditional g H ( 2 ) ( 0 ) of single photons.
