Abstract

Squeezing effects in the resonance fluorescence of a bichromatically driven two-level atom are investigated. Unusual squeezing properties appear in comparison to the monochromatic driving field cases. It is demonstrated that these properties are strongly correlated to two-photon-emission processes, which play an important role in the resonance fluorescence of a bichromatically driven two-level atom.

Interaction of a bichromatically driven two-level atom with a squeezed vacuum: Photon statistics and squeezing

Matthias Jakob, Gagik Yu. Kryuchkyan

We consider effects of a broadband squeezed reservoir on the second-order intensity correlation, and on squeezing properties in the resonance fluorescence of a bichromatically driven two-level atom in a cavity of moderate Q. Phase-dependent squeezed reservoir effects change the photon statistics, and lead to an amplification of the degree of squeezing. Squeezed reservoir effects in the second-order correlation function ${g}^{(2)}(\ensuremath{\tau})$ are determined by two-photon emission processes which can be enhanced or suppressed in dependence on the squeezing phase.

Resonance fluorescence spectra and squeezing properties of a bichromatically driven four-level atom

Matthias Jakob, János A. Bergou

The polarization-dependent resonance-fluorescence spectra of a bichromatically driven four-level atom are studied. It is shown that very narrow spectral lines can occur in the incoherent part of the spectra for polarization directions that are different from that of the driving field. Squeezing properties of the fluorescent light are also investigated. The degree of squeezing depends on the polarization direction and reaches a maximum of remarkably $56%.$

Effect of Driving Field on Squeezing Spectrum in Resonance Fluorescence

Shu-Guang Qi

The squeezed light has been applied widely in our life.We can get the quartered squeezing spectra from the resonance fluorescence of a two-level atom driven by a monochromatic field. It shows that the squeezing spectra will change markedly with the varieties of the intensity and the frequency of the driving field. The appearance of the squeezing on in-phase or on out-phase,and the degree of the squeezing, and the number of the squeezing modes are all controlled via changing the intensity and the frequency of the monochromatic driving field.

Ringing in the resonance fluorescence spectrum of a driven two-level atom under bichromatic excitation in a broadband squeezed vacuum

Amitabh Joshi, Shoukry S. Hassan

We present analytical results for the steady-state resonance fluorescence spectrum produced by a driven two-level atom excited under two strong coherent fields in the presence of a broadband squeezed vacuum. Here the central frequency of the squeezed vacuum is considered to be resonant as well as off-resonant with the average driving field frequency while maintaining resonance between the atomic transition frequency and the average driving field frequency. We observe a ringing phenomenon in the fluorescence spectrum due to the small frequency difference in the bichromatic field and this phenomenon is found to be sensitive to the detuning of the carrier frequency of squeezed vacuum with respect to the central frequency of the bichromatic field.

Resonance fluorescence in a bichromatic field as a source of nonclassical light

Gagik Yu. Kryuchkyan, Matthias Jakob, A.S. Sargsian

The photon correlation phenomenon and photon count statistics in the resonance fluorescence of a two-level atom interacting with a strong bichromatic field are investigated. An analytical result is obtained for the second-order correlation function. Unusual quantum-statistical properties of the fluorescent radiation are obtained, and effects on the photon correlation influenced by electromagnetic reservoirs is shown.

Polarization-correlated photon pairs in the fluorescence from a bichromatically driven four-level atom

Matthias Jakob, J$aacute$nos A Bergou

We examine the correlation between photons in the resonance fluorescence of a bichromatically driven four-level atom. The four-level atom consists of two twofold degenerate states and, as a consequence, spontaneous emission events become sensitive to polarization. Depending on the interaction strength with the bichromatic field as well as its polarization direction, nonlinear two-photon emission takes place which, in turn, leads to extremely strong correlations between certain polarized photons. On the other hand, correlations between photons differently polarized from the distinctive ones are suppressed. Thus, the light source establishes a promising candidate for the generation of Bell-type correlated photon pairs. We explain the unusual large correlations with a nonlinear four-photon process which crucially depends on the strength of the driving as well as its polarization.
