Quantum Gates Based on Electron Spins of Triple Quantum Dot

Hirotaka Sasakura, S. Adachi, Shunichi Muto

Quantum computation using electron spins in three-coupled dots of different sizes is proposed. By using photon-assisted tunnelling, Coulomb blockade and spin rotation of electrons, logic gates are realized by static and rotational magnetic fields and resonant optical pulses. The two-bit CNOT is numerically demonstrated by the time evolution of the density matrix. In addition, the Hamiltonian is described using pseudo-spin representation and the phase change during the gate operation is discussed.

Coherent tunneling by adiabatic passage of an exchange-only spin qubit in a double quantum dot chain

Elena Ferraro, Marco De Michielis, Marco Fanciulli +1 more

A scheme based on coherent tunneling by adiabatic passage (CTAP) of exchange-only spin qubit quantum states in a linearly arranged double quantum dot chain is demonstrated. Logical states for the qubit are defined by adopting the spin state of three electrons confined in a double quantum dot. The possibility to obtain gate operations entirely with electrical manipulations makes this qubit a valuable architecture in the field of quantum computing for the implementation of quantum algorithms. The effect of the external control parameters as well as the effect of the dephasing on the coherent tunneling in the chain is studied. During adiabatic transport, within a constant energy degenerate eigenspace, the states in the double quantum dots internal to the chain are not populated, while transient populations of the mixed states in the external ones are predicted.

Quantum gates between capacitively coupled double quantum dot two-spin qubits

Dimitrije Stepanenko, Guido Burkard

We study the two-qubit controlled-NOT gate operating on qubits encoded in the spin state of a pair of electrons in a double quantum dot. We assume that the electrons can tunnel between the two quantum dots encoding a single qubit, while tunneling between the quantum dots that belong to different qubits is forbidden. Therefore, the two qubits interact exclusively through the direct Coulomb repulsion of the electrons. We find that entangling two-qubit gates can be performed by the electrical biasing of quantum dots and/or tuning of the tunneling matrix elements between the quantum dots within the qubits. The entangling interaction can be controlled by tuning the bias through the resonance between the singly occupied and doubly occupied singlet ground states of a double quantum dot.
