Holographic generation of squeezed states?

Abstract

Recently Liu Chen [ J. Opt. Soc. Am. B12, 829 ( 1995)] suggested that holography can be employed to generate squeezed-state light. Here simple phase-grating and amplitude-grating arguments are used to refute that suggestion.

Generation of squeezed states by holography

Shangqing Liu, Yansong Chen

A scheme for generating squeezed-state light by combining the reconstructed object wave of a hologram and its phase-conjugate wave is suggested. The method of generating the light is relatively simple, and good squeezing is possible, as our calculations show.

Erasing of an optically induced grating in a semi-insulating multiple quantum well waveguide

Ewa Weinert-Rączka, Marek Wichtowski

An interaction between optical signal guided in a photorefractive multiple quantum well planar waveguide and two external waves is considered. The external waves create a refractive index grating in the waveguide core which can be applied for frequency selective switching of guided signals. The influence of free carriers generated by the signal wave on the stability of photorefractive grating is analyzed. Full Text: PDF References D.D. Saturated-absorption spectroscopy of weak-field Zeeman splittings in rubidium: comment

J. B. Kim, H.A. Kim, Han Seb Moon +1 more

High-resolution saturated absorption spectroscopy of the 85RbD1 line has been used for observation of the Zeeman effect by use of a diode laser with a narrow linewidth. Experimental results were compared with both Breit–Rabi theory related to shifted resonant frequencies and Nakayama's single-cycle optical pumping theory related to signal magnitudes of signal [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B2, 1431 (1985)]. A comparison of our results with those of Bowie [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B12, 1839 (1995)], who used perturbation theory to obtain the energy-level shifts, yielded experimental results that differ significantly in some respects.
