Abstract

The correlation of the inhomogeneous broadening of the resonance transition at different time intervals and the efficiency of long-lived photon echo response locking by the action of standing waves of non-resonant laser pulses are considered. It is shown that the long-lived photon echo response locking effect may be observed even at the angles of the relative orientation of the non-resonant standing wave laser pulses of less than one degree, due to the change in the correlation coefficient of inhomogeneous broadening at time intervals between the first and the second and after the third resonant laser pulses.

The correlation of inhomogeneous broadening and the efficiency of data locking in optical echo processors

L. A. Nefedev, G. I. Khakimzyanova

The formation of responses of stimulated photon echo and the efficiency of data locking under the action of a spatially inhomogeneous electric field on a resonance medium are analyzed. It is shown that the action of a spatially inhomogeneous electric field on a resonance medium between the first and second excitation laser pulses leads to the reversible destruction of the phase memory of the medium, which manifests itself in a change in the time-frequency correlation of inhomogeneous broadening. The possibility of controlling the efficiency of data locking by varying the gradient of an external nonuniform electric field is considered.

Effect of locking of photon echo signals in multichannel data recording

L. A. Nefedev, G. I. Khakimzyanova

The effect of locking of a long-lived photon echo is investigated in the case where nonresonant laser radiation (a standing or traveling wave with an artificially created spatial inhomogeneity) serves as an inhomogeneous external perturbation, which results in random shifts or splitting of the initial monochromatic components of the inhomogeneously broadened line. The use of the mutual spatial orientation of the gradients of electric fields as an associative key of access to recorded information allows one to produce a large number of independent channels of data recording. It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme for recording and associative sampling of information has the advantage that, in each channel, information is recorded simultaneously at all optical centers (the whole inhomogeneously broadened resonance line), which does not decrease the intensity of the response from each channel. Moreover, the echo holographic information coded in the wavefronts of the exciting pulses can also be recorded in each channel, which does not affect the independence of individual channels of data recording.

Optimum conditions for correlation of the temporal shape of an object pulse with a stimulated photon echo response in inhomogeneous external electric fields

We have studied the information locking effect and the effect of correlation of the shape of an object laser pulse with the shape of a stimulated photon echo response in the presence of external spatially inhomogeneous electric fields. We have shown that, for the transition 3 H 4 - 3 P 0 in a LaF 3 :Pr 3+ crystal, one can observe the effect of the correlation of the shape of an object laser pulse with the shape of a stimulated photon echo response and, depending on the scheme of the action of external spatially inhomogeneous electric fields, either the information locking effect or the information destroying effect.

Frequency–time correlation of inhomogeneous broadening in a three-level system and the stimulated photon echo locking effect

L. A. Nefedev, Э. И. Низамова, Guzel I. Garnaeva

The frequency–time correlation of inhomogeneous broadening on different transitions in a threelevel resonant medium in the presence of external spatially nonuniform electric fields is considered. It is shown that, under a certain relationship between the magnitudes of gradients of external nonuniform electric fields acting at different moments of time, it is possible to control the magnitude of the frequency–time correlation on different frequency transitions. An increase in the frequency–time correlation coefficient with certain strengths of external spatially nonuniform electric fields leads to the recovery of the phase memory of the system and an increase in the stimulated photon echo intensity.

We have studied the locking effect of photon-echo responses in a three-level system and the information reproducibility upon coding the information in the temporal shape of the object laser pulse. We have shown that these effects differ from their analogs in the two-level system.
