Condition for Nonexistence of Aharonov-Bohm Effect

Shasanka Mohan Roy

It is shown that electromagnetic effects of a vector potential on a charged particle confined to a region $R$ (multiply or simply connected) are completely determined by field strengths in $R$, if the potential obeys certain conditions. Such potentials are adequate in experiments purporting to show Aharonov-Bohm effect. Therefore these experiments have not established effects of inaccessible fields.

An Aharonov-Bohm-like effect for simply connected regions arising due to boundary conditions

Shasanka Mohan Roy, V. Singh

The authors demonstrate the non-zero effect of the electromagnetic vector potential on charged particles confined to field-free simply connected regions in which no non-zero gauge-invariant loop integrals of the vector potential exist. This effect arises in the presence of certain boundary conditions. They propose an experimental test of this effect.

Interference of Charged Particles in a Vector Potential with Vanishing Magnetic Field

I. H. Duru

An interference experiment in a magnetic field free region with non vanishing vector potential created by two perpendicularly intersecting planes carrying uniform currents is discussed. The relation of this configuration to the Aharonov-Bohm potential is examined. An experimental set up which is finite in the direction of the electronic motion is studied.
