An Intuitive Expression for Inseparability Condition of a Two-Mode Squeezed Vacuum State in a Thermal Environment

Abstract

Considering the propagation of a two-mode optical field that is initially in a squeezed vacuum state in a thermal environment, we obtain an intuitive expression for inseparability condition of the two-mode mixed state which is given in the coherent state representation. This condition shows that the two modes have quantum entanglement if and only if the coefficient of the correlation term between the two modes is larger than that of the off-diagonal term of each mode in the density matrix. We find that even if the quantum channel is dynamically coupled to the thermal environment, the fidelity for teleporting coherent states larger than 1/2 is still the criterion for quantum teleportation. We also show that the entanglement, squeezing and quantum teleportation conditions are always consistent with each other.

Transfer of nonclassical features in quantum teleportation via a mixed quantum channel

Jinhyoung Lee, M. S. Kim, Hyunseok Jeong

Quantum teleportation of a continuous-variable state is studied for the quantum channel of a two-mode squeezed vacuum influenced by a thermal environment. Each mode of the squeezed vacuum is assumed to undergo the same thermal influence. It is found that when the mixed two-mode squeezed vacuum for the quantum channel is separable, any nonclassical features, which may be imposed in an original unknown state, cannot be transferred to a receiving station. A two-mode Gaussian state, one of which is a mixed two-mode squeezed vacuum, is separable if and only if a positive well-defined P function can be assigned to it. The fidelity of teleportation is considered in terms of the noise factor given by the imperfect channel. It is found that quantum teleportation may give more noise than direct transmission of a field under the thermal environment, which is due to the fragile nature of quantum entanglement of the quantum channel.

Entanglement swapping of two-mode Gaussian states in a thermal environment

Hongrong Li, Fuli Li, Yang Yang +1 more

Entanglement swapping of two-mode Gaussian states is investigated by use of quantum teleportation protocol of continuous variables. In the entanglement swapping protocol, we take the two-mode squeezed vacuum which is exposed in a thermal environment as a mixed-quantum-channel state and a two-mode standard form Gaussian state as an input state to be teleported. When the input state is pure, we find that the swapped state is inseparable if and only if both the input state and the quantum-channel state are entangled. When the input state is mixed and entangled, we find that the swapped state is inseparable only if the quantum-channel state is sufficiently much entangled. We also notice that the required minimum entanglement in the mixed quantum channel to maintain entanglement in the swapped state strongly depends on the global purity of the input state.

Entanglement of one- and two-mode combination squeezed thermal states and its application in quantum teleportation

Liu Shi-You, Zheng Kai-Min, Fang Jia +2 more

In view of the fact that one- and two-mode combination squeezed vacuum states may exhibit stronger squeezing in a certain range, we introduce one- and two-mode combination squeezed thermal states (OTCSTS) and investigate the property of entanglement in detail. Using the remarkable property of Weyl ordering, i.e., the order-invariance of Weyl ordered operator under similar transformations, we conveniently derive the analytical expression of entanglement degree-logarithmic negativity, and then present the condition of keeping entanglement for these squeezed thermal states. It is found that the OTCSTS possesses higher entanglement than the usual two-mode squeezed thermal states for any non-zero squeezing parameter. As an application, the quantum teleportation for coherent state is considered by using the OTCSTS as an entangled channel. It is shown that the teleportation fidelity can only be enhanced within a certain range of parameters, which is just the same as the condition of exhibiting stronger squeezing in one quadrature. In addition, the condition of realizing effective quantum teleportation (>1/2) is obtained analytically.

Continuous variable quantum teleportation of a thermal state in a thermal environment

Alexei Zubarev, Marina Cuzminschi, Аурелиан Исар

The analytical formula for the fidelity of teleportation from Alice to Bob of a thermal state used as an input state is derived using the characteristic function approach. As a resource state it is used a continuous-variable two-mode bosonic state shared between Alice and Bob and the system is placed in a contact with a general environment. The quantum fidelity depends on the average thermal photon number of the input sate and on the parameters of the resource state and environment. In order to evaluate the parameters required for a successful quantum teleportation of a thermal state we estimate the evolution of the entanglement and fidelity of teleportation in the case when Alice and Bob share an initial squeezed thermal state in contact with a thermal bath. We work in the framework of the theory of open quantum systems based on completely positive dynamical semigroups and we use the Gorini-Kossakowski-Lindblad-Sudarshan master equation in order to describe the evolution of the system. The conditions for a successful quantum teleportation are the fidelity of teleportation larger than the threshold value of the classical fidelity of teleportation and entanglement present in the resource state. In order to assure the fulfillment of these conditions it is necessary to select the time of teleportation and to adjust the parameters characterizing the system (squeezing between the modes of the resource state, their average numbers of thermal photons and frequencies), and the temperature of the thermal reservoir. It is shown that in similar physical conditions, the fidelity of teleportation of the thermal states is larger than that one for a coherent state.

Two-mode squeezed vacuum state coupled to the common thermal reservoir

Jakub S. Prauzner‐Bechcicki

Entangled states play a crucial role in quantum information protocols, thus the dynamical behaviour of entanglement is of great importance. In this letter, we consider a two-mode squeezed vacuum state coupled to one thermal reservoir as a model of an entangled state embedded in an environment. As a criterion for entanglement we use a continuous-variable equivalent of the Peres–Horodecki criterion, namely the Simon criterion. To quantify entanglement we use the logarithmic negativity. We derive a condition, which assures that the state remains entangled in spite of the interaction with the reservoir. Moreover for the case of interaction with vacuum as an environment we show that a state of interest after infinitely long interaction is not only entangled, but also pure. For comparison we also consider a model in which each mode is coupled to its own reservoir.

The effect of noisy environment on Secure Quantum Teleportation of uni-modal Gaussian states

Somayeh Mehrabankar, Payman Mahmoudi, Farkhondeh Abbasnezhad +2 more

Quantum communication networks can be built on quantum teleportation, which is the transmission of an unknown quantum state from a sending station to a remote receiving station supported by entangled states and classical communication. We use a continuous variable two-mode squeezed vacuum state as a resource state for the quantum teleportation. This state is shared by Alice and Bob, and their system comes into contact with a squeezed thermal environment. The conditions for a secure quantum teleportation require a teleportation fidelity larger than 2/3 and two-way steering of the resource state. We investigate the time evolution of the steering and the fidelity of teleportation in order to determine the values of the parameters required for a successful secure quantum teleportation of a coherent Gaussian state. We show that the temperature, dissipation rate and squeezing parameter of the squeezed thermal reservoir limit the feasible duration for secure quantum teleportation, while by increasing the squeezing parameter of the initial state one can effectively expand the temporal range for a successful secure quantum teleportation.
