Soliton-pair Propagation under Thermal Bath Effect

Nadia Boutabba, Hichem Eleuch

We consider two atomic transitions excited by two variable laser fields in a three-level system. We study the soliton-pair propagation out of resonance and under thermal bath effect. We present general analytical implicit expression of the soliton-pair shape. Furthermore, we show that when the coupling to the environment exceeds a critical value, the soliton-pair propagation through three-level atomic system will be prohibited.

Suppressing the frequency chirp in optical solitons by coherent propagation effects

D. P. Caetano, Jandir M. Hickmann

We report on the coherent propagation of optical solitons through a three level atomic system embedded in a nonlinear dispersive waveguide showing that the soliton frequency chirp can be suppressed during the frequency conversion process.

Propagation of the four-wave mixing signal immersed in a thermal bath

M. A. Izquierdo, A. Mastrodoménico, José Luis Paz

This work studies the spatial propagation of the four-wave mixing signal of a molecular system with two electronic levels immersed in a thermal bath. Using the optical Bloch-Maxwell equations, we present three approximations, two of them are analytical solutions and the other is a numerical approach, where the effects of the variation of pump intensity through the optical path are considered. Also, we compare these results with the analogous in absence of the thermal reservoir and it is shown that the stochastic effect induced by the solvent, due to the experimental conditions as relaxation times, concentration of the solution and optical frequencies of the pumps, diminishes the intensity responses compared with the same in absence of the bath.
