ON STRUCTURAL INSTABILITY OF STATES OF CHAOTIC QUANTUM-SYSTEMS

GO XU, QL JIE, XU, GO (reprint author), NANJING UNIV,DEPT PHYS,NANJING 210008,PEOPLES R CHINA.

Based on quantum canonical representations corresponding to the same subgroup chain of the dynamical group and the quantum canonical transformation between them, the structural instability of states of chaotic quantum systems due to a sensitive dependence on the initial condition is discussed. Numerical illustrations are provided with a model system which has been shown to be classically chaotic.

Comment on “A Remark on the Problem of Quantum-Classical Correspondence in the Case of Chaotic Dynamics”

Juan Cesar Flores

In the paper by Kolovsky ( Europhys. Lett. , 27 (1994) 79) an equation for a mesoscopic particle, with internal structure, was proposed. Nevertheless, that equation is in confrontation with the stability of such a mesoscopic particle. This instability is independent of the chaotic character of the corresponding classical system.

Coherence-preserving chaos in a mixed quantum classical description

Jiangbin Gong, Gong-ou Xu, Rui-hua Xie

We give here a physical picture that exponential instability can occur with the coherence of states preserved in a mixed quantum classical description. Taking advantage of the concept of the geometrical structure of a quantum system, we are able to illustrate our ideas with some examples in a simple manner. This kind of chaos may be important for further investigations of chaotic behaviors in systems with both quantum and classical degrees of freedom.
