Quantum Cryptography for Enhancing Privacy in Mobile Computing Systems

A. S. Anakath, S. Ambika

A governmental and business organizations employ handheld devices like palmtops and smart cellular phones for communication, collaboration, and purchases, the problem of privacy and security arise. Essential encryption systems present themselves as a problem to the current nature of mobility since most of the previous encryption methods evolved with the centralized systems. Quantum cryptography can thus be regarded as a perfect solution to the above challenges given the fact that it employs principles of quantum mechanics such as quantum key distribution (QKD) to secure communications in mobile platforms. This paper aims at examining the use of quantum cryptography in mobile computing systems whereby an endeavor is made to determine how quantum communication algorithms can be incorporated into the current mobile communication standards. The efficiency of the quantum cryptography is also discussed in the context of protection from threats that are characteristic for the mobile networks, such as wiretapping and data theft. Also, we touch on such issues as how practical, easily scalable, and suitable for mobile systems quantum cryptography is in terms of computational and network burden. Thus, in this paper, the author would like to show that by applying quantum cryptography, end-to-end privacy can be effectively achieved in the field of mobile computing and explain its significance for the development of next generations of mobile security.

Enhancing data and privacy security in mobile cloud computing through quantum cryptography

Jiawei Han, Yanheng Liu, Xin Sun +1 more

A quantum cryptography security model in mobile cloud computing is proposed in this paper, so as to achieve highly-secure data and privacy cryptography in mobile cloud computing environment. In the model, quantum keys are distributed to users' phones through two phases. Firstly, existing classical optical network has been transformed as quantum distribution network conveniently through multiplexing technique, the BB84 quantum key distribution protocol realized based on decoy state is adopted; Then, the security authentication protocol based on the quantum keys and distance-bounding HKQ is put forward, and through the near field communication (NFC) technology, quantum keys are transmitted into the security storage area of users' phone in the trusted area; Mobile users can get access to data on the cloud through quantum secret keys, protecting users' data and privacy. Experiments in the real quantum cryptography environment prove the validity of the proposed QCMC model.
