Application of density matrix renormalization group to one-dimensional Hubbard model to study strongly correlated electrons system

Olusanmi Ebenezer Odeyemi, Akinola Samson Olayinka, Arthur Imooah Ejere +3 more

In this work, we applied density matrix renormalization group to one-dimensional Hubbard model at five numbers of sweep to solve strongly correlated interacting electrons system, starting from two electrons on two sites up to ten electrons on ten sites at half filling. The results that emerged from the present study is in agreement with that of exact diagonalization, variational and Lanczos solution at the varying values of the Coulomb interaction strength (U/t) at t=1. The total energy, Eg/t, of the ground state increases with the increase in interaction strength for all the numbers of site, N. The spectra intensity increases with increase in the interaction strength but decreases to zero when the interaction strength is made negatively large. This study is extended to more than two electrons on two sites. We equally show effect of interaction strength, U/t, at t = 1 on the energy-dependent entropy, S. Key words: Density matrix renormalization group, Hubbard model, sweep, exact diagonalization, variational, Lanczos, entropy.

Charge Gap of the Quasi-One-Dimensional Organic Conductors: A Density-Matrix Renormalization-Group Study

Satoshi Nishimoto, Masahiro O. Takahashi, Y. Ohta

The Density-matrix renormalization-group (DMRG) technique is used to study the one-dimensional (1D) dimerized Hubbard model at quarter filling. We carry out a precise calculation of the charge gap as a function of the interaction and dimerization strengths and evaluate the interaction strength of the effective 1D Hubbard model at half filling. We also examine the effect of nearest-neighbor repulsion on the charge gap, whereby we evaluate the realistic repulsive strengths for quasi-1D organic compounds.

Disorder effect on the Friedel oscillations in a one-dimensional Mott insulator

Y. Weiss, Moshe Goldstein, Richard Berkovits

The Friedel oscillations resulting from coupling a quantum dot to one edge of a disordered one-dimensional wire in the Mott insulator regime are calculated numerically using the density matrix renormalization group method. By investigating the influence of a constant weak disorder on the Friedel oscillations decay we find that the effect of disorder is reduced by increasing the interaction strength. This behavior is opposite to the recently reported influence of disorder in the Anderson insulator regime.
