Abstract

By virtue of single-photon interference, we present how to realize a nonlocal $N$-qubit conditional phase gate, which might be quite useful for the synthesis of arbitrary entangled quantum states of remote qubits required by distributed quantum information processing. Without considering photon loss, our scheme would work in a repeat-until-success fashion with an automatic feedback line added. Even by taking photon loss into consideration, only the success probability is affected, not the gate fidelity.

Implementation of a nonlocal N -qubit conditional phase gate using the nitrogen–vacancy center and microtoroidal resonator coupled systems

Cong Cao, Gang Liu, Ru Zhang +1 more

Implementation of a nonlocal multi-qubit conditional phase gate is an essential requirement in some quantum information processing (QIP) tasks. Recently, a novel solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system, in which the nitrogen–vacancy (NV) center in diamond is coupled to a microtoroidal resonator (MTR), has been proposed as a potential system for hybrid quantum information and computing. By virtue of such systems, we present a scheme to realize a nonlocal N -qubit conditional phase gate directly. Our scheme employs a cavity input–output process and single-photon interference, without the use of any auxiliary entanglement pair or classical communication. Considering the currently available technologies, our scheme might be quite useful among different nodes in quantum networks for large-scaled QIP.

Realization of a Multiqubit Conditional Phase Gate by Virtue of a Weak Coherent Light Field

Huang Xiu-Hua, Zhihua Chen, Tang Yao-Xiang +1 more

We propose a scalable scheme to generate a multiqubit conditional phase gate by using a basic building block, i.e., a weak coherent optical pulse |α〉 reflected successively from a cavity with trapped atoms. In the scheme, we use a coherent state of light instead of a single photon source, homodyne measurement on a coherent light field instead of single photon detection, which reduces the complexity of the practical experiment. The outcomes of these measurements indicate either completion of the gate or the presence of the original qubits such that the operation can be repeated until it is successful.

Efficient distributed controlled Z gate without ancilla single-photons via cross-phase modulation

Meng-Zheng Zhu, Liu Ye

A scheme is proposed to directly implement a controlled Z gate for two remote photonic qubits based on the weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity and intense coherent states of light. The distributed controlled Z gate can be used to achieve the remote creation of entangled states and can be extended to perform distributed quantum computation. The distinct advantage of the present scheme in contrast with the existing schemes is that ancilla single-photons are not needed. The total success probability and fidelity of the present controlled Z gate can approach unit in principle. We investigate photon losses of the qubus beam during the transmission and decoherence effects in the quantum gate caused by such photon losses. The scheme uses only basic tools in quantum optical laboratories and can be implemented in the regime of weak cross-Kerr nonlinearities. Therefore this makes us more confident in the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

Spin-based scheme for implementing an N-qubit tunable controlled phase gate in quantum dots by interference of polarized photons

Wen‐Xue Cui, Shi Hu, Qi Guo +2 more

We present a scheme for direct implementation of an N-qubit tunable controlled phase gate for spin qubits in quantum dots coupled to optical cavities, resorting to spin selective dipole coupling interaction and linear optical manipulation. In the scheme, we first design a quantum entangler device to transform the operated physical qubits, which are represented by the states of the electron spins, into non-maximal hybrid entangled states with a certain probability of success via the introduction of auxiliary circularly polarized photons. Then we show that, based on this quantum entangler operation, a spin-based N-qubit tunable controlled phase gate can be probabilistically achieved by the interference and coincidence detection of polarized photons. This might lead to a useful step toward the construction of more efficient quantum circuits and quantum algorithms in solid-state qubits.

Y. H. Zhou, Lei Wang, Xiao-Lei Lai

By means of cavity-assisted photon interference, a simple scheme is proposed to implement a symmetric economical phase-covariant quantum cloning machine of two remote qubits, with each in a separate cavity. With our present scheme, a high-fidelity cloning machine is realized. Our scheme may be quite useful in terms of distributed quantum information processing.
