Abstract

In this paper we have constructed the multiparticle ( q, p )-realization of the su (1, 1) Lie algebra, and studied its relation to the multimode bosonic realization and squeezing properties. We believe that this multiparticle realization should be very useful in the study of a system of coupled general time-dependent quantum oscillators whose Hamiltonian can be written as a linear combination of the three su (1, 1) generators; in particular, it is more capable to give a vivid picture of the system in the configuration space.

Multimode bosonic realization of the su(1,1) Lie algebra

Chi‐Fai Lo, K.L. Liu

We have constructed the multimode bosonic realization of the su(1,1) Lie algebra, on the basis of which the su(1,1) generalized coherent state in the multimode Fock space is derived. It is shown that the multimode coherent state is, in fact, the generalized multimode squeezed vacuum state discussed by Lo and Sollie [Phys. Rev. A 47, 733 (1993)], and that the unitary displacement operator can be identified as the generalized multimode squeezing operator. Hence, similar to the single- and two-mode cases, our multimode bosonic realization of the su(1,1) Lie algebra has immediate relevance to the squeezing properties of boson fields.

An SU(1,1) Boson Realization Involved in Solving the Three Coupled Harmonic Oscillators' Problem

Hong-Yi Fan

We find that a three-mode boson realization of the SU(1,1) Lie algebra is involved in solving the three coupled harmonic oscillators' problem. The unitary operator U, which is found to be able to transform the Fock space of a three–dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator into the space in which the Hamiltonian of three coupled oscillators is diagonized, is further decomposed as a quantum–mechanical rotation in three–mode Hilbert space followed by an SU(1,1) squeezing transformation. The coordinate representation of this SU(1,1) unitary operator is obtained.

Multimode Boson Realization of SU(1,1) Lie Algebra Gained via IWOP Technique

Hong-Yi Fan, Yue Fan

We show that the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators provides us with an approach for deriving the disentangling of the multimode boson realization of SU(1,1) coset element. A new type of generalized squeezed states can thus be constructed.

Generalized coherent state for multimode bosonic realization of the su(2) Lie algebra

Chi‐Fai Lo, David Kiang

We have constructed the multimode bosonic realization of the su(2) Lie algebra, on the basis of which the SU(2) generalized coherent state in the multimode Fock space is derived. It is shown that in the multimode coherent state each bosonic mode has the sub-Poissonian statistics, and that the unitary displacement operator can be identified as the generalized multimode rotation operator.

Generalized q-bosons and their squeezed states

Jacob Katriel, A. I. Solomon

Generalized q-boson operators associated with the simultaneous creation of several q-bosons are introduced. These operators give rise to a realization of the quantum Weyl-Heisenberg algebra and are applied to the construction of corresponding Holstein-Primakoff realizations of the quantum algebras SU q (2) and SU q (1,1). Coherent states of these algebras are defined in the various ways suggested by the equivalent definitions of the harmonic oscillator coherent states, and some of their properties are studied. Particular attention is devoted to the squeezing properties of the quadrature of the electromagnetic field in these states.

Symplectic groups in quantum optics

Alfred Wünsche

Starting from the symplectic Lie groups Sp (2 n , ) of an n -mode system in classical and quantum mechanics we discuss, in particular, Sp (2, )~ SO (2,1) for a single mode and Sp (4, )~ SO (3,2) with some of its important subgroups such as SU (1,1)~ Sp (2, ) and SU (2). We then look at their applications in quantum optics (squeezing, phase states, beamsplitter and polarization). We explicitly construct the root scheme of the Lie algebra sp (4, ) in two different bases as it is an important means for the investigation of the group properties and the construction of the irreducible representations. Apart from the well known realizations of Sp (2, ) by single-mode and two-mode systems, we discuss some other realizations of this group by fractal combinations of boson operators.
