Abstract

We propose a scheme for generation of multipartite ionic Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states only by single-qubit measurements. Our scheme not only does not need joint measurements but also avoids the difficulty of synchronizing the arrival time of the two scattered photons, which is faced by the previous schemes. Therefore our entanglement generation scheme can be implemented more easily than the schemes based on atomic interference in experiment.

Teleportation of Multi-ionic GHZ States and Arbitrary Bipartite Ionic State via Linear Optics

Jian Zhou, Dong Ping, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

We present a scheme for teleportation of multi-ionic GHZ states and arbitrary bipartite ionic state only by single-qubit measurements via linear optical elements. In our scheme, we avoid the difficulty of joint measurement and synchronizing the arrival time of the two scattered photons, which are faced by previous schemes. So our scheme can be realized easily within current experimental technology.

Generation of pure ionic entangled states via linear optics

Ming Yang, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

In this paper, we propose a scheme to generate two-ion maximally entangled states from either pure product states or mixed states using linear optics. Our new scheme is mainly based on the ionic interference. Because the proposed scheme can generate pure maximally entangled states from mixed states, we denote it as a purificationlike generation scheme. The scheme does not need a Bell state analyzer as the existing entanglement generation schemes do, it also avoids the difficulty of synchronizing the arrival time of the two scattered photons faced by the existing schemes, thus the proposed new entanglement generation scheme can be implemented more easily in practice.

We present a scheme to generate a multi-photon Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state by using single-photon sources, linear optical elements and photon detectors. Such a maximum entanglement has wide applications in the demonstration of quantum nonlocality and quantum information processing.

Multipartite quantum entanglement creation for distant stationary systems

Tao Li, Zhenkai Wang, Keyu Xia

We present efficient protocols for creating multipartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states of distant stationary qubits. The system nonuniformity and/or the non-ideal single-photon scattering usually limit the performance of entanglement creation, and result in the decrease of the fidelity and the efficiency in practical quantum information processing. By using linear optical elements, errors caused by the system nonuniformity and non-ideal photon scattering can be converted into heralded loss in our protocols. Thus, the fidelity of generated multipartite entangled states keeps unchanged and only the efficiency decreases. The GHZ state of distant stationary qubits is created in a parallel way that its generation efficiency considerably increases. In the protocol for creating the W state of N distant stationary qubits, an input single photon is prepared in a superposition state and sent into N paths parallelly. We use the two-spatial-mode interferences to eliminate the "which path" single-photon scattering "knowledge". As a result, the efficiency of creating the N-qubit W state is independent of the number of stationary qubits rather than exponentially decreases.

Quantum Information Processing Without Joint Measurement

Yang Ming, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

We propose a linear optical scheme for the teleportation of unknown ionic states, the entanglement concentration for nonmaximally entangled states for ions via entanglement swapping and the remote preparation for ionic entangled states. The unique advantage of the scheme is that the joint Bell-state measurement needed in the previous schemes is not needed in the current scheme, i.e. the joint Bell-state measurement has been converted into the product of separate measurements on single ions and photons. In addition, the current scheme can realize the quantum information processes for ions by using linear optical elements, which simplify the implementation of quantum information processing for ions.
