A Scheme for Generating Cluster States via Raman Interaction

Abstract

A scheme for generating cluster states via Raman interaction is proposed. In the scheme, we firstly prepare cluster states of multi-cavities with information encoded in the coherent states and then generate cluster states of multi-atoms, which encode the information in the ground states of Λ-type atoms. The advantages of our scheme are that the atomic spontaneous radiation can be efficiently reduced since the cavity frequency is largely detuned from the atomic transition frequency and the Hadamard gate operation of the coherent states is replaced by measuring the coherent states.

Generation of Cluster States in Cavity QED

Zhou Yan-Li, Yang Li-Jia, Hong‐Yi Dai

We propose two schemes for the generation of cluster states in the context of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the first scheme, we prepare multi-cavity cluster states with information encoded in the coherent states. The second scheme is to generate multi-atom cluster states, where qubits are represented by the states of cascade Rydberg atoms. Both the schemes are based on the atom-cavity interaction and the atomic spontaneous radiation can be efficiently reduced since the cavity frequency is largely detuned from the atomic transition frequency.

Possible Realization of Cluster States and Quantum Information Transfer in Cavity QED via Raman Transition

Zhiming Zhan, Weibin Li

We present a scheme to generate cluster states with many atoms in cavity QED via Raman transition. In this scheme, no transfer of quantum information between the atoms and cavities is required, the cavity fields are only virtually excited and thus the cavity decay is suppressed during the generation of cluster states. The atoms are always populated in the two ground states. Therefore, the scheme is insensitive to the atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay. We also show how to transfer quantum information from one atom to another.

Generation of W-type Entangled Coherent States of Three-cavity Field by Raman Interaction

Ma Song-She

A scheme was proposed to generate the W-type entangled coherent states of three-cavity fields, after comparing the differences between the discrete-variable quantum information and the continuous-variable quantum information and taking into account that coherent states were presently of practical use and readily available. The scheme was based on the degenerate Raman interaction of a Λ-type three-level atom with a single-mode field. Three identical cavities were in coherent states and three identical atoms shared a W-type entangled state initially. Let the three atoms interact with the three cavity fields respectively, selected a proper interaction time and detected the three atoms after exiting from their respective cavity. Then the three-cavity fields were projected onto a W-type entangled coherent states. During the atom-field interaction the atoms have no probability of being populated in the upper level, then the atomic spontaneous emissions could be neglected. Therefore, the coherence of the system might be better maintained. Based on current cavity quantum electrodynamics technique, the scheme could be realized experimentally. The W-type entangled coherent states generated was expected to be useful in the continuous-variable quantum information processing. The scheme was generalized to prepare the W-type entangled coherent states of n-cavity fields (n〉3).

Generation of Multi-atom Entangled States via the Raman Atom-Cavity-Field Interaction

Zheng Shi-Biao, Guo Guang-Can

A scheme is presented for preparing multi-atom entangled states based on the Raman atom-cavity-field interaction. After several degenerate Λ-type three-level atoms interact with an appropriately prepared single-mode cavity field through Raman coupling, a two-level atom, resonant with the cavity, is sent through the cavity and a Ramsey zone. The detection of the two-level atom leaves the Λ-type atoms in an entangled state.

Preparation of Cluster States of Atomic Qubits in Cavity QED

Yu Guo, Deng Hong-Liang

We propose an optical scheme to generate cluster states of atomic qubits, with each trapped in separate optical cavity, via atom-cavity-laser interaction. The quantum information of each qubit is encoded on the degenerate ground states of the atom, hence the entanglement between them is relatively stable against spontaneous emission. A single-photon source and two classical fields are employed in the present scheme. By controlling the sequence and time of atom-cavity-laser interaction, we show that the atomic cluster states can be produced deterministically.

Schemes for generating the cluster states in microwave cavity QED

XuBo Zou, Wolfgang M. Mathis

We propose two experimental schemes to generate the cluster states in the context of microwave cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the first scheme to prepare many cavities into the cluster states, we encode the vacuum state and one-photon state of the microwave cavity as the logic zero and one of the qubits. The second scheme is to prepare many atoms into the cluster states, where qubits are represented by the states of Rydberg atoms. Both schemes require the resonant atom-cavity interaction so that the quantum dynamics operates at a high speed, which is important in view of decoherence.
