Comment on ‘Looking back into Bohr's atom’

Subhankar Ray, J. Shamanna

It is shown that, in the article 'Looking back into Bohr's atom', Bhattacharyya (2006 Eur. J. Phys. 27 497–500) has made several redundant assumptions for arriving at rather restrictive results. The article also uses certain approximations, which do not follow from the assumptions made therein.

Looking back into Bohr's atom

Bibhas Bhattacharyya

The present work reconsiders Bohr's theory of hydrogenic atoms from a different point of view. Instead of the traditional approach based on the balancing of forces acting on the electron, this work takes up the correspondence principle as a starting point for calculation of the electronic energy levels.
