INFLUENCE OF UNEQUAL OSCILLATOR STRENGTHS ON STIMULATED RAMAN ADIABATIC PASSAGE THROUGH BRIGHT STATE

In the present work an analytical and numerical analysis of the b -STIRAP process in a medium with unequal oscillator strengths is performed. It is shown that the length of population transfer can be considerably increased by an appropriate choice of the dipole transitions.

EFFECT OF LOW-FREQUENCY NOISE ON ADIABATIC PASSAGE IN A SUPERCONDUCTING NANOCIRCUIT

Angelo La Cognata, Pasquale Caldara, Davide Valenti +4 more

Recent experiments have demonstrated coherent phenomena in three-level systems based on superconducting nanocircuits. This opens the possibility to detect Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) in artificial atoms. Low-fequency noise (often 1/f) is one of the main sources of decoherence in these systems, and we study its effect on the transfer efficiency. We propose a way to analyze low frequency fluctuations in terms of fictitious correlated fluctuations of external parameters. We discuss a specific implementation, namely the Quantronium setup of a Cooper-pair box, showing that optimizing the trade-off between efficient coupling and protection against noise may allow us to observe coherent population transfer in this nanodevice.

DYNAMICS OF ULTRACOLD ATOM-MOLECULE CONVERSION:THE STIMULATED RAMAN ADIABATIC PASSAGE

Meng Shao-ying

The generation of ultracold molecules has been a hot topic in cold atom-molecule physics. It is difficult to obtain ultracold molecules with laser cooling as in the atomic system, because there are more degrees of freedom in molecules, and the level structure is denser and more complicated. For the time being, the ultracold molecules are generally generated from the ultracold atoms coupled by the external fields. The stimulated Raman adiabatic passage process(STIRAP) as an effective method of generating ultracold molecules from its atomic counterparts has been widely studied. In this article,we mainly focus on the recent research progress of dynamics, adiabaticity and instability of the dark state in the atom-molecule STIRAP.
