Generation of Bell states of two cavities based on interactions with a single atom

Abstract

This paper presents a scheme to generate some Bell states of two orthogonal polarized modes in two separated cavities deterministically. The fidelity of the generated state is less than 1, which is mainly caused by fluctuations of interaction time between atoms and cavities, but the value of the fidelity is within our practical interest.

Entangled coherent states:generation

Hu Jie

A scheme of generating the Bell-type and cluster-type entangled coherent states(ECSs) via a single two-level atom and cavity modes initially prepared in coherent states is proposed.Discussions on the two ECSs are presented. When the atom interacts separately with two Ramsey zones and two cavity modes, the generation of Bell-type ECSs in separate cavities is realized after an atomic measurement.By adding the Ramsey zones and cavity modes, the cluster-type ECSs can be generated. The interaction time between the atom and cavity modes are allπ/2λ,where A is the effective atom-cavity coupling constant. At last the experimental feasibility of such proposal is discussed.

Robust generation of entanglement between two cavities mediated by short interactions with an atom

Dan E. Browne, Martin Bodo Plenio

Current methods of preparing maximally entangled states in the laboratory need an extremely accurate control of interaction times, requiring sophisticated experimental techniques. Here, we show that such precise control is not necessary when one utilizes short or weak interactions followed by measurements. We present a scheme for the probabilistic generation of Bell states in a pair of cavities, after each has interacted briefly with an atom. The advantage of the scheme, as compared to present schemes, is its low sensitivity to the exact values of experimental parameters such as atomic velocity and coupling strength, in fact, for a large range of parameters, the fidelity of the Bell states generated remains close to unity.

Generation of entangled photon pairs in optical cavity-QED: operating in the bad cavity limit

R. García-Maraver, K. Eckert, R. Corbalán +1 more

We propose an optical cavity-QED scheme for the deterministic generation of polarization entangled photon pairs that operates with high fidelity even in the bad cavity limit. The scheme is based on the interaction of an excited four-level atom with two empty optical cavity modes via an adiabatic passage process. Monte-Carlo wave function simulations are used to evaluate the fidelity of the cavity-QED source and its entanglement capability in the presence of decoherence. In the bad cavity limit, fidelities close to one are predicted for state-of-the-art experimental parameter values.

Cavity-QED-based entangled photon pair gun

R. García-Maraver, K. Eckert, R. Corbalán +1 more

We describe a cavity-QED scheme to deterministically generate polarization entangled photon pairs by using a single atom successively coupled to two single longitudinal mode cavities presenting polarization degeneracy. The cavities are initially prepared either in the vacuum state or in a single photon Fock state for each orthogonal polarization. Sharing the same basic elements, the source can operate on different physical processes. For a V -type three-level atom initially prepared in the ground state two implementations of the source are possible using either: i) two truncated Rabi Oscillations, or ii) a counterintuitive Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage process. Although slower than the former implementation, this second one is very efficient and robust under fluctuations of the experimental parameters and, particularly interesting, almost insensitive to atomic decay. For a four-level atom in a diamond configuration initially prepared in the upper state, the source can produce entangled photon pairs even in the bad cavity limit via an adiabatic passage process. We have performed Monte Carlo wave function simulations to characterize these sources by means of: i) the success probability P of producing the desired entangled state, ii) the fidelity F in the reduced space of two emitted cavity photons, and iii) the S parameter of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality to quantify the entanglement capability.

Generation of two-mode entanglement between separated cavities

Fuli Li, Ying Gu, Qihuang Gong +1 more

We propose a scheme for the generation of two-mode entangled states between two spatially separated cavities. It utilizes a two-level atom sequentially coupling to two high-Q cavities with strong classical driving fields. By suitably choosing the intensities and detunings of the fields and precisely controlling the dynamics, entangled coherent states and Bell states can be produced between the modes of the two cavities. These entangled states should have applications in quantum information processing.

Efficient generation of Bell-cat states in remote cavities

Ying Zhang

In the context of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED),a potential scheme is proposed to generate entangled coherent states. The scheme includes twice interactions of two-level atoms with cavities. In the first interaction, two atoms are sent into a microwave cavity with the large detuning respectively. And then the second interaction is that the two atoms enter another microwave cavity and are driven by a resonant classical field meantime. When we choose the proper interaction time and make measurement on the two atoms, the two microwave cavity mode fields are determinatively entangled. In addition,it is easy to generalize the scheme to multi-cavity and multi-atom.
