CORRELATION IDENTIFICATION IN BIPARTITE PAULI CHANNELS

Abstract

The classical communication capacities of quantum Pauli channels with memory (correlation) are known to exhibit a transition effect. We revisit this phenomenon from the standpoint of the functionally analogous task of Pauli channel correlation identification. We treat the complete class of Pauli channels with correlation and determine the maximum quantum Fisher information achievable both with pure separable channel probe states and with maximally entangled bipartite probe states. A comparison of these Fisher informations reveals four distinct classes of Pauli channels and shows that only those channels that exceed a certain parametric threshold exhibit a transition effect. For those Pauli channels that exhibit this effect, the threshold at which it occurs has a simple analytic expression.

Entanglement-enhanced transmission of classical information in Pauli channels with memory: Exact solution

D. Daems

The amount of classical information that is reliably transmitted over two uses of general Pauli channels with memory, modeled as a correlated noise between a single pair of uses, is investigated. The maximum of the mutual information between the input and the output is proven to be achieved by a class of product states that is explicitly given in terms of the relevant channel parameters below some memory threshold, and by maximally entangled states above this threshold. In particular, this proves a conjecture on the depolarizing channel by Macchiavello and Palma [Phys. Rev. A 65, 050301(R) (2002)]. Furthermore, it also shows that no other scenario can occur for Pauli channels as for example the existence of an intermediate optimal degree of entanglement reported for some Gaussian channels with memory.

Symmetries of Quantum Fisher Information as Parameter Estimator for Pauli Channels under Indefinite Causal Order

Francisco Delgado

Quantum Fisher Information is considered in Quantum Information literature as the main resource to determine a bound in the parametric characterization problem of a quantum channel by means of probe states. The parameters characterizing a quantum channel can be estimated until a limited precision settled by the Cramér–Rao bound established in estimation theory and statistics. The involved Quantum Fisher Information of the emerging quantum state provides such a bound. Quantum states with dimension d=2, the qubits, still comprise the main resources considered in Quantum Information and Quantum Processing theories. For them, Pauli channels are an important family of parametric quantum channels providing the most faithful deformation effects of imperfect quantum communication channels. Recently, Pauli channels have been characterized when they are arranged in an Indefinite Causal Order. Thus, their fidelity has been compared with single or sequential arrangements of identical channels to analyse their induced transparency under a joint behaviour. The most recent characterization has exhibited important features for quantum communication related with their parametric nature. In this work, a parallel analysis has been conducted to extended such a characterization, this time in terms of their emerging Quantum Fisher Information to pursue the advantages of each kind of arrangement for the parameter estimation problem. The objective is to reach the arrangement stating the best estimation bound for each type of Pauli channel. A complete map for such an effectivity is provided for each Pauli channel under the most affordable setups considering sequential and Indefinite Causal Order arrangements, as well as discussing their advantages and disadvantages.

New phase transitions in optimal states for memory channels

Vahid Karimipour, Zohreh Meghdadi, Laleh Memarzadeh

We investigate the question of optimal input ensembles for memory channels and construct a rather large class of Pauli channels with correlated noise, which can be studied analytically with regard to the entanglement of their optimal input ensembles. In a more detailed study of a subclass of these channels, the complete phase diagram of the two-qubit channel, which shows three distinct phases, is obtained. While increasing the correlation generally changes the optimal state from separable to maximally entangled states, this is done via an intermediate region where both separable and maximally entangled states are optimal. A more concrete model, based on random rotations of the error operators which mimic the behavior of this subclass of channels, is also presented.

Transition behavior in the channel capacity of two-quibit channels with memory

Chiara Macchiavello, G. Massimo Palma, S. Virmani

We prove that a general upper bound on the maximal mutual information of quantum channels is saturated in the case of Pauli channels with an arbitrary degree of memory. For a subset of such channels we explicitly identify the optimal signal states. We show analytically that for such a class of channels entangled states are indeed optimal above a given memory threshold.

Entanglement-assisted Enhanced Information Transmission Over a Quantum Channel with Correlated Noise; A General Expression

A. Fahmi

Entanglement and entanglement-assisted are useful resources to enhance the mutual information of the Pauli channels, when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. In this paper, We study quantum communication channels with correlated noise and derive a general expression for the mutual information of quantum channel, for the product, maximally entangled state coding and entanglement-assisted systems with correlated noise in the Pauli quantum channels. Hence, we suggest more efficient coding in the entanglement-assisted systems for the transmission of classical information and derive a general expression for the entanglement-assisted classical capacity. Our results show that in the presence of memory, a higher amount of classical information is transmitted by two or four consecutive uses of entanglement-assisted systems.
