Comment on “Phenomenological damping in optical response tensors”

G E Stedman, S. Naguleswaran, Davıd L. Andrews +1 more

Damping factors arise from static as well as dynamic perturbations. These must appear with constant sign in the perturbation theory denominators for compatibility with quantum mechanics, conformity with time-reversal symmetry, and agreement with experiment.

Comment on “Quantization of the damped harmonic oscillator” [J. Math. Phys. 59, 082105 (2018)]

Francisco Marcelo Fernández

Serhan et al. [J. Math. Phys. 59, 082105 (2018)] derived a quantum-mechanical Hamiltonian operator from the classical equations of motion for the damped harmonic oscillator and obtained its eigenvalues and eigenfunctions by canonical quantization. They claim that the eigenvalues are real, but here we show that they are in fact complex.

Quantum Mechanics with Complex Time : A Comment to the Paper by Rajeev

Kazuyuki Fujii

In (quant-ph/0701141) Rajeev studied quantization of the damped simple harmonic oscillator and introduced a complex-valued Hamiltonian (which is normal). In this note we point out that the quantization is interpreted as a quantum mechanics with {\bf complex time}. We also present a problem on quantization of classical control systems.
