Abstract

We have obtained sufficient conditions for conservativity of minimal quantum dynamical semigroup by modifying and extending the method used in [1]. Our criterion for conservativity can be considered as a complement to Chebotarev and Fagnola's conditions [1]. In order to show that our conditions are useful, we apply our results to concrete examples (models of heavy ion collision and noncommutative elliptic operators).

Remarks on sufficient conditions for conservativity of minimal quantum dynamical semigroups

C. Bahn C. K. Ko, Park, Y. M.

We obtain sufficient conditions for conservativity of minimal quantum dynamical semigroup by modifying and extending the method used in [Chebotarev and Fagnola, J. Funct. Anal. 153(1998), 382-404]. Our criterion for conservativity can be considered as a complement to Chebotarev and Fagnola's conditions. In order to show that our conditions are useful, we apply our results to a concrete example(a model of heavy ion collision).

QUANTUM DYNAMICAL SEMIGROUPS GENERATED BY NONCOMMUTATIVE UNBOUNDED ELLIPTIC OPERATORS

CHANGSOO BAHN, Chul Ki Ko, Yong‐Moon Park

We study quantum dynamical semigroups generated by noncommutative unbounded elliptic operators which can be written as Lindblad-type unbounded generators. Under appropriate conditions, we first construct the minimal quantum dynamical semigroups for the generators and then use Chebotarev and Fagnola's sufficient conditions for conservativity [1] to show that the semigroups are conservative. We then apply our results to a quantum mechanical system.

Are sufficient conditions for conservativity of minimal quantum semigroups necessary?

Franco Fagnola, LEOPOLDO PANTALEÓN-MARTÍNEZ

We show by a counter-example that the two basic operator inequalities in the typical sufficient conditions for conservativity of minimal quantum dynamical semigroups are, in fact, both necessary.

MINIMAL QUANTUM DYNAMICAL SEMIGROUP ON A VON NEUMANN ALGEBRA

Debashish Goswami, Kalyan B. Sinha

Given a formal unbounded generator, the minimal quantum dynamical semigroup on a von Neumann algebra is constructed. A set of equivalent necessary and sufficient conditions for the conservativity of the minimal semigroup is given and in the case when it is not conservative, a distinguished family of conservative perturbations of the semigroup is studied. Finally, some of these results are applied to the classical Markov semigroup with arbitrary state space.

Non-Conservative Minimal Quantum Dynamical Semigroups

Roberto B. Quezada

We give necessary and sufficient conditions for non-conservativity of a class of minimal quantum dynamical semigroups (qds). We extend some well known criteria for conservativity of minimal qds and show interesting relations of the conservativity problem with the von Neumann theory of the defect indices of a symmetric closed operator.
