Path integral for coherent states of the dynamical group SU(1,1)

Abstract

Path integrals over coherent states of the dynamical group (noninvariance group) SU(1,1) are constructed. From the continuous limit the relevant classical dynamics is extracted and is shown to take place in a curved phase space of the form of a Lobachevskii plane. Applications are made to the harmonic oscillator, a model of superfluid helium, the Morse oscillator, and the hydrogen atom. It is shown that when SU(1,1) is the relevant dynamical group the motion will appear oscillator-like on the Lobachevskii plane.

Path integral for coherent states of the dynamical U2group and U2/1supergroup

E. A. Kochetov

A path-integral formulation in the representation of coherent states for the unitary U 2 group and U 2/1 supergroup is introduced. U 2 and U 2/1 path integrals are shown to be defined on the coset spaces U 2 /U 1 (X)U 1 and U 2/1 /U 1/1 (X)U 1 respectively. These cosets appear as curved classical phase spaces. Partition functions are expressed as path integrals over these spaces. In the case when U 2 and U 2/1 are the dynamical groups, the corresponding path integrals are evaluated with the help of linear fractional transformations that appear as the group (supergroup) action in the coset space (superspace). Possible applications for quantum models are discussed.

Coherent states and a path integral for the Morse oscillator

Christopher C. Gerry

Coherent states for the Morse oscillator are constructed using generalized coherent states associated with the SO(2,1) noninvariance group for this potential. By using the path integral over these states, it is shown that the Morse oscillator may be viewed as a harmonic oscillator evolving in a fictitious time. To show that this picture is mathematically consistent, we compute the path integral for the Green's function and recover the bound-state spectrum.

Path integral in the representation of SU(2) coherent state and classical dynamics in a generalized phase space

Hiroshi Kuratsuji, T. Suzuki

Path integral in the representation of coherent state for the simplest semisimple Lie group SU(2) and its classical consequences are investigated. Using the completeness relation of the coherent state, we derive a path integral expression for the transition amplitude which connects a pair of SU(2) coherent states. In the classical limit we arrive at a canonical equation of motion in a ’’curved phase space’’ (two-dimensional sphere) which reproduces the ordinary Euler’s equation of a rigid body when applied to a rotator.

Compact and noncompact dynamics of theSU(1,1) coherent states driven by a coherence preserving Hamiltonian

A. Bechler

We investigate dynamics of the SU (1,1) coherent states with the use of the group transformations diagonalizing the coherence preserving Hamiltonian driving the physical system. The model physical system we consider may be viewed as a particular case of the generalized time-dependent harmonic oscillator, or as a generalization of the degenerate parametric amplifier, with the pumping field having modulated amplitude and a nonresonant phase. A Hamiltonian of such a system is given as a linear combination of the SU (1,1) generators with time-dependent coefficients, and the group transformations, mentioned above, transform this Hamiltonian to an expression containing only one generator, i.e. diagonalize the Hamiltonian. Trajectories of the complex coherent state parameter in the phase space (Lobachevskii plane) can be divided into two classes: compact trajectories never approaching the unit circle (boundary of the phase space) and noncompact trajectories approaching the unit circle from inside asymptotically, after sufficiently long time. The character of the dynamics is reflected by the time behaviour of the parameters of the group transformation diagonalizing the Hamiltonian. The main observation is that in the case of noncompact dynamics absolute values of the group parameters increase indefinitely, although in some cases they may exhibit a singular behaviour with regions of rapid variations, sudden changes of their values or cusplike singularities. For compact dynamics the group transformation parameters remain bounded and exhibit an oscillatory behaviour as functions of time.

Coherent States and a Path Integral for the Relativistic Linear Singular Oscillator

Sh. M. Nagiyev, E. I. Jafarov, Messoud Efendiyev

The SU(1,1) coherent states for a relativistic model of the linear singular oscillator are considered. The corresponding partition function is evaluated. The path integral for the transition amplitude between SU(1,1) coherent states is given. Classical equations of the motion in the generalized curved phase space are obtained. It is shown that the use of quasiclassical Bohr–Sommerfeld quantization rule yields the exact expression for the energy spectrum.
