Phonon-mediated spin dynamics in a two-electron double quantum dot under a phonon temperature gradient

Kazuyuki Kuroyama, Sadashige Matsuo, Seigo Tarucha +1 more

We have theoretically studied phonon-mediated spin-flip processes of electrons in a GaAs double quantum dot (DQD) holding two spins, under a phonon temperature gradient over the DQD. Transition rates of interdot phonon-assisted tunnel processes and intradot spin-flip processes involving spin triplet states are formalized by the electron-phonon interaction accompanied with the spin-orbit interaction. The calculations of the spin-flip rates and the occupation probabilities of the spin-states in the two-electron DQD with respect to the phonon temperature difference between the dots are quantitatively consistent with our previous experiment. This theoretical study on the temperature gradient effect onto spins in coupled QDs would be essential for understanding spin-related thermodynamic physics.

Quantum dynamics of electric-dipole coupled defect centers in solids

Feng Tang, Lei-Ming Zhou, Nan Zhao

Abstract We investigate the quantum dynamics of two defect centers in solids, which are coupled by vacuum-induced dipole–dipole interactions. When the interaction between defects and phonons is taken into account, the two coupled electron–phonon systems make up two equivalent multilevel atoms. By making Born–Markov and rotating wave approximations, we derive a master equation describing the dynamics of the coupled multilevel atoms. The results indicate the concepts of subradiant and superradiant states can be applied to these systems and the population transfer process presents different behaviors from those of the two dipolar-coupled two-level atoms due to the participation of phonons.

DECREASING OF THE FLUORESCENT FIELD INTENSITY OF LASER PUMPED TWO QUBITS

Viorel Ciornea, Elena Cecoi, Mihai A. MACOVEI

The dynamics of the fluorescence intensity generated by a pair of laser-pumped two-level quantum dots was studied. The closely spaced two-level emitters, embedded in a semiconductor substrate, interacts as well with the vibrational phononic thermostat. It has been shown that the phononic thermostat significantly decrease this process, especially at low temperatures. This is due to the fact that the phononic environment opens an emission channel between the symmetrical and antisymmetric bi-qubit states. And at low temperatures, depending on the strength and sign of the dipol-dipol interaction potential, this allows to populate the subradiant state.
