Abstract

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system which interacts with a Heisenberg $XY$ spin chain constrained to carry an energy current. We show an explicit connection between the decoherence factor and entanglement, and numerically and analytically study the dynamical process of entanglement in both weak- and strong-coupling cases for two initial states, the general pure state and the mixed Werner state. We provide results that the entanglement evolution depends not only on the energy current, the anisotropy parameter and the system-environment couplings but also on the size of degrees of freedom of environment. In particular, our results imply that entanglement will be strongly suppressed by the introduction of energy current on the environmental spin chain in the weak-coupling region while it is not sensitive to the energy current in the strong-coupling region. We also observe the sudden death of entanglement in the system and show how the energy current affects the phenomenon.

Analyzing entropic uncertainty bound in two qubits coupled to a spin environment

Abstract By assuming a general pure state and a mixed Werner state as two initial states, we investigate the time evolution of entropic uncertainty bound in the presence of quantum memory for a two-qubit system interacting with an XY spin chain regarded as an environment constrained to carry the energy current. We obtain an explicit relationship between the entropic uncertainty bound and decoherence factor, and analytically study the dynamical process of entropic uncertainty bound for both weak and strong-coupling cases in two initial states. Our results reveal that the evolution of entropic uncertainty bound depends not only on the energy current, the system-environment couplings and the anisotropy parameter but also on the size of the environmental XY spin chain. Interestingly, we find that the entropic uncertainty bound can be suppressed by reducing the energy current on the environmental spin chain in a weak-coupling region, however, it has no sensitivity to the energy current in a strong-coupling region.

Quantum Discord for a Central Two-Qubit System Coupled to an XY Spin Chain with Energy Current

Feng Zhong

We investigate the quantum discord dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to an XY spin-chain environment with energy current. We compared dynamical behaviors of quantum discord under different system-environment couplings, the size of the degrees of freedom of the environment, the anisotropy parameter, and the energy current. The results indicate that the energy current can strongly suppress the quantum discord in the weak-coupling region, while it has no obvious effect on the quantum discord in the strong-coupling regime.

Manipulating and protecting entanglement by means of spin environments

Tony J. G. Apollaro, Alessandro Cuccoli, C Di Franco +3 more

We study the dynamical behavior of two initially entangled qubits, each locally coupled to an environment embodied by an interacting spin chain. We consider energy-exchange qubit–environment couplings resulting in rich and highly non-trivial entanglement dynamics. We obtain exact results for the time evolution of the concurrence between the two qubits and find that, by tuning the interaction parameters, one can freeze the dynamics of entanglement, therefore inhibiting their relaxation into the spin environments, as well as activate a sudden-death phenomenon. We also discuss the effects of an environmental quantum phase transition on the features of the two-qubit entanglement dynamics.

Disentanglement of two qubits coupled to an XY spin chain: Role of quantum phase transition

Zi-Gang Yuan, Ping Zhang, Shu‐Shen Li

We study the disentanglement evolution of two spin qubits which interact with a general $XY$ spin-chain environment. The dynamical process of the disentanglement is numerically and analytically investigated in the vicinity of a quantum phase transition (QPT) of the spin chain in both weak and strong coupling cases. We find that the disentanglement of the two spin qubits may be greatly enhanced by the quantum critical behavior of the environmental spin chain. We give a detailed analysis to facilitate the understanding of the QPT-enhanced decaying behavior of the coherence factor. Furthermore, the scaling behavior in the disentanglement dynamics is also revealed and analyzed.

Decoherence from spin environment: Role of the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction

W. W. Cheng, Jun‐Ming Liu

We study the time evolution of decoherence factor of two spin qubits and qutrits coupled to an $XY$ spin chain with Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interaction environment. The dynamical process of the decoherence is numerically and analytically investigated. We find that the DM interaction can enhance slightly the decay of the decoherence factor in the weak-coupling region. However, in the strong-coupling region, the decoherence factor is very sensitive to the DM interaction.
