Abstract

We analyze the entanglement condition of a new kind of non-Gaussian quantum state, which is prepared by photon number subtraction from a two mode Gaussian state. Fock space criterion and Shchukin-Vogel criterion are applied and the results are compared. Two kinds of the original Gaussian states are utilized. Their photon subtracted states have different entanglement properties.

Inseparability of Phase-Damped Bipartite Gaussian States

Li-zhen Jiang

For bipartite non-Gaussian states which are prepared by applying the phase damping to Gaussian states, we use Fock subspace inseparable criterion and the Shchukin–Vogel inseparable criterion to analyze their inseparability. The lowest order of the two criteria is obtained. Fock subspace criterion is more efficient in detecting the entanglement of damped Gaussian state by numerical results. Two photon Fock subspace criterion does not improve the entanglement detecting condition.

Multiple-Photon-Added and -Subtracted Two-Mode Binomial States: Nonclassicality and Entanglement*

Kai‐Cai Li, Xiang‐Guo Meng, Ji‐Suo Wang

Abstract We theoretically analyze the nonclassicality and entanglement of two new non-Gaussian entangled states generated by applying multiple-photon addition and subtraction to a two-mode binomial state. The nonclassical properties are investigated in terms of the partial negativity of the Wigner functions, whose results show that their nonclassicality can be enhanced via one-mode even-number photon operations and two-mode symmetrical operations for the initial two-mode binomial state. We also find that there exists some enhancement in the entanglement properties in certain parameter ranges via one-mode photon-addition and two-mode symmetrical operations .

Test of Inseparability Criteria for Squeezed Number States of the Radiation Field

Fabio Dell’Anno, Silvio De Siena, Fabrizio Illuminati

We investigate the efficiency of inseparability criteria in detecting the entanglement properties of two-mode non-Gaussian states of the electromagnetic field. We focus our study on the relevant class of two-mode squeezed number states. These states combine the entangling capability of two-mode squeezers with the non-Gaussian character (nonclassicality) of number states. They allow for some exact analytical treatments, and include as a particular case the two-mode Gaussian squeezed vacuum. We show that the generalized PPT criterion recently proposed by Shchukin and Vogel, based on higher order statistical moments, is very efficient in detecting the entanglement for this class of non-Gaussian states.

ENTANGLEMENT CRITERION FOR COHERENT SUBTRACTION AND COHERENT ADDITION OF BIPARTITE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE STATES

Li-zhen Jiang, Xiaoyu Chen, Tian-Yu Ye +2 more

We study the entanglement conditions of two quite general classes of two-mode non-Gaussian states. Using computable cross norm and realignment criterion, we obtain the sufficient conditions of entanglement for coherently added or subtracted two-mode squeezed thermal states, and the sufficient condition of entanglement for any photon number entangled state (PNES) evolving in a thermal noise and amplitude damping channel.

Superiority of photon subtraction to addition for entanglement in a multimode squeezed vacuum

Tamoghna Das, R. Prabhu, Aditi Sen +1 more

We investigate the entanglement patterns of photon-added and photon-subtracted four-mode squeezed vacuum states. Entanglements in different scenarios are analyzed by varying the number of photons added or subtracted in certain modes, which are referred to as the ``player'' modes, the others being ``spectators.'' We find that the photon-subtracted state can give us higher entanglement than the photon-added state which is in contrast to the two-mode situation. We also study the logarithmic negativity of the two-mode reduced density matrix obtained from the four-mode state which again shows that the state after photon subtraction can possess higher entanglement than that of the photon-added state, and we then compare it to that of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state. Moreover, we examine the non-Gaussianity of the photon-added and photon-subtracted states to find that the rich features provided by entanglement cannot be captured by the measure of nonclassicality.

Entanglement properties of non-Gaussian resources generated via photon subtraction and addition and continuous-variable quantum-teleportation improvement

Yang Yang, Fuli Li

The entanglement properties of non-Gaussian states are investigated, which are obtained by performing the photon addition, photon subtraction, photon-addition-then-subtraction, and photon-subtraction-then-addition operations on the two-mode squeezed vacuum state. We show that the partial von Neumann entropy of all the resulting states is greater than that of the original squeezed state, but only the photon-subtracted states and the photon-added-then-subtracted states have the stronger Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlation than the original squeezed state. Quantum teleportation of Braunstein and Kimble protocol is studied for coherent states, squeezed states, and mixed Gaussian states with the non-Gaussian entangled resources. For all the states to be teleported, the fidelity with the photon-subtracted and the photon-added-then-subtracted entangled resources is higher than that with the two-mode squeezed vacuum resource. Based on Bures fidelity, we find that quantum teleportation for mixed and classical single-mode Gaussian states is more faithful than for single-mode Gaussian states with high purity and nonclassicality.
