Abstract

Two-photon transitions between some perturbed states of a Ba atom have been experimentally investigated with different perturbing and exciting radiations. A strong dependence of the probability of two-photon transitions between the perturbed states on the mutual orientation of the electric vectors of the exciting and perturbing radiations has been found.

Experimental investigations of influence of additionally induced polarization of the ground state of atoms on multiphoton transitions

І. І. Бондар, В. В. Суран

Multiphoton transitions in the Ba atom are experimentally studied in the presence of strong nonresonant radiation that additionally polarizes atoms in the ground state. It is found that the additionally induced polarization of Ba atoms leads to an increase in the probability of multiphoton transitions from this state.

Polarisation effects in excitation of strong perturbed atomic states

І. І. Бондар, В. В. Суран

We studied experimentally the two-photon excitation of 5d7s/sup 3/D/sub 2/ state of Ba atom strongly perturbed in result of ac-Stark effect realisation. The perturbation of this state was fulfilled by influence of YAG-laser radiation. For excitation of this state we used the tunable dye-laser radiation. The investigations were performed by the resonant ionization spectroscopy method. We measured the Ba/sup +/ ions yield caused by the ionization of Ba atoms through the two-photon resonance with perturbed 5d7s/sup 3/D/sub 2/ state in cases when the electric vectors of both used radiations were parallel and orthogonal.

Multiphoton resonant transitions in atomic Ba in the presence of additional strong off-resonant radiation

І. І. Бондар, В. В. Суран

The multiphoton transitions in atomic Ba are experimentally studied in the presence of strong off-resonant radiation that generates additional atomic polarization in the ground state. It is demonstrated that the additionally induced polarization of the Ba atoms in the ground state leads to a higher probability of the multiphoton transitions from this state.
