Quantumlike systems in classical optics: applications of quantum optical methods

S. Chávez-Cerda, Jesús R. Moya-Cessa, H. M. Moya-Cessa

We give a solution to the problem of light propagation in an inhomogeneous medium and in particular we show how to construct such an inhomogeneous medium so that it can produce quantumlike entangled functions. Using the correspondence between classical optics and quantum mechanics, we apply quantum optics methods to find the desired solution.

Channel capacity restoration of noisy optical quantum channels

László Gyöngyösi, Sándor Imre

This paper defines a fundamentally new approach of capacity recovery of very noisy, practically completely useless optical quantum channels. The transmission of information through classical channels and quantum channels differs in many ways. The capacity recovery of very noisy communication channels cannot be imagined for classical systems, and this effect has no analogue in classical systems. The capacity recovery of very noisy quantum channels makes it possible to use two very noisy optical-fiber based quantum channels with a positive joint capacity at the output. Our method gives an algorithmic solution to the capacity recovery problem, and provides an efficient algorithmic solution for finding recoverable very noisy optical quantum channels.

Calculation of quantum characteristics based on the classical solution of the diffraction problem in a resonator with a dielectric plate

IPSI RAS – Branch of the FSRC “Crystallography and Photonics” RAS, С. И. Харитонов, Nikolay Lvovich Kazanskiy +5 more

The work is devoted to the development of the quantum theory of diffractive optical elements. Aspects of quantum optics are considered by the example of light diffraction from a dielectric plate in a resonator. The paper shows the connection between the classical and quantum solution of the problem of diffraction by a dielectric plate. Expressions are obtained for the eigenmodes of such a resonator, as well as for the operators of the vector magnetic potential and the electric field strength. The method proposed in this paper can be easily extended to dielectric plates with a diffractive microrelief, that is, to diffractive optical elements.
