Robust and high-speed entanglement engineering in cavity QED and ion trap with a single slightly detuned interaction

Abstract

A scheme is presented for generating entangled states for two atoms in a cavity. In the scheme two atoms simultaneously interact with a cavity mode with a small detuning. The operation time is very short and thus the decoherence can be effectively suppressed. Furthermore, the scheme is valid no matter whether the two atoms have the same coupling strengths or not. The scheme can be used to generate multi-atom W states without the requirement of individual addressing of the atoms, which is also experimentally important. The scheme can also be generalized to produce entangled states in an ion trap without individually addressing the ions.

Efficient Scheme for Entangling Two Distant Atoms

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

A scheme is presented for the generation of entangled states for two atoms trapped in two distant cavities. In the scheme each atom is resonantly coupled with the respective cavity mode and driven by a strong classical field. The detection of a photon decaying from the cavities and passing through a beam-splitter collapses the atoms to an entangled state. The required atom-field interaction time is very short and thus the decoherence effect is suppressed. Our scheme is within the reach of presently available cavity QED techniques.

Multi-Atom Entanglement Engineering in Distant Cavities via Resonant Interaction

Zhong Zhi-Rong

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled states for multiple atoms trapped in three distant cavities connected by two identical single-mode fibers. Compared with the previous schemes, the distinct advantages of the proposed scheme are: First, all the cavities in the proposed protocol can interact with each other freely, which is important in quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Secondly, in the scheme, the atoms, cavities, and fiber mode are in resonance. Thus, the required interaction time is short, which is important in view of decoherence. In principle, the proposed scheme can be extended to generate n atoms entangled states.

Scheme for Generating a χ-Type Four-Atom Entangled State in Cavity QED

Lin Xiu

We propose a scheme for generating a χ-type four-atom entangled state in cavity QED. In the present scheme, the atoms interact simultaneously with a highly detuned cavity mode with the assistance of a strong classical field. The scheme is insensitive to the cavity decay and the thermal field, which is of importance from the experimental point of view.

Scheme for Robust Storage of Multi-particle Entanglement with a Cavity QED System

Changyong Chen, Shaohua Li, Kelin Gao

We propose a scheme for robustly storing multi-atom entangled states involving Bell states, three-particle W -state, n -particle W -like-states, generalized multi-particle W -states, n -particle GHZ-states, and partially entangled states in cavity QED. Our scheme can preserve the internal structure of the entangled states above, with only generation of a global phase corresponding to each of entangled states during the storage of them. One single-mode cavity and n identical two-level atoms are required. Our scheme may be realized in the present technology. The idea may be also utilized to store multi-trapped-ion entangled states in linear ion trap.

Scalable generation of multi-atom W states with a single resonant interaction

Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scalable scheme is presented for generating W-type entangled states for many atoms. The scheme only requires a single resonant interaction of the atoms with a cavity mode. The time required to complete the process does not increase with the number of atoms. The scheme can also be used to generate the W states for multiple trapped ions with a single interaction.
