Gamma distributed random variables and their semi-quantum operators

Abstract

We first introduce the joint semi-quantum operators of a finite family of random variables having finite moments of all orders. We then use the semi-quantum operators to characterize the one-dimensional Gamma and Gaussian distributions in terms of their commutators.

A study of random variables in terms of the number operator

We show first how the joint semi-quantum and quantum operators of a finite family of random variables having finite moments of all orders can be recovered from their joint number operator. We then characterize the polynomially symmetric and polynomially factorizable random variables in terms of their joint number operator. Finally, we present the quantum decomposition of the number and quantum operators of the random variables whose orthogonal polynomials are the Gegenbauer polynomials.

A method for computing the mixed moments of (not necessarily commutative) random vectors from the first-order moments, the q-commutators between the annihilation and creation operators, and the q-commutators between the annihilation and preservation operators, is presented. The method is illustrated by a relevant characterization of q-Gaussian vectors.

2-Meixner random variables and semi-quantum operators

The equivalence between the notions of "2-Meixner" and "classic Meixner" random variables is proved first. A derivation of the classic Meixner random variables, using double commutators involving the semi-quantum operators, is presented next.
