Abstract

In this paper, we considered the joint maskedbeamforming in secure wireless transmission in which artificial noise is sent by the transmitter (Alice) and the receiver (Bob) jointly.A new and efficient optimization scheme is proposed to separately allocate the power ratio for Alice and assign the transmit antenna for Bob.It is proved that when Bob's artificial noise is high enough, Alice should allocate less proportion of her power to the artificial noise. The proposed model combined with proper parameter design can achieve optimal secrecy performance.

Securing Communication via Transmission of Artificial Noise by Both Sides: Bipolar-Beamforming Optimization

Yongkai Zhou, Yan Mei Zhu, Fangbiao Li +3 more

The paper considers the secure transmission in a wireless environment in which both the transmitter (Alice) and the legitimate receiver (Bob) send artificial noise (AN) to interfere with the eavesdropper (Eve). Optimal design is analyzed in detail for this AN-by-both-side model to deal with Eve’s stochastic channel condition and random spatial distribution. Bipolar-beamforming is first proposed to jointly design Alice and Bob’s transmitting signals. By optimally assigning the transmitting antenna for Bob and allocating the power ratio between Alice’s information and the AN signal, maximum secrecy capacity can be achieved. Simulation is done to illustrate the process of bipolar-beamforming optimization. Results show that the AN-by-both-side model has good secrecy performance on both average and extreme conditions as Eve approaches Alice or Bob.

Optimal Power Allocation for Joint Beamforming and Artificial Noise Design in Secure Wireless Communications

Haohao Qin, Xiang Chen, Yin Jian Sun +2 more

This paper studies the secure communication between a multiple-antenna transmitter (Alice) and a single-antenna destination (Bob) in the presence of more than one eavesdroppers (Eves). The optimal beamforming weights and the covariance matrix of artificial noise (AN) are obtained by minimizing the total transmission power of Alice, subject to a target secrecy rate constraint for Bob. We propose a two-level optimization method, where the inner-level optimization is solved by an interesting semidefinite relaxation method of W. C. Liao et al., and the outer-level optimization is solved by the golden section method. Our algorithm converges quite fast. Some properties of the optimal solution are also provided to illustrate the features of this problem.

Application of Full-Duplex Wireless Technique into Secure MIMO Communication: Achievable Secrecy Rate based Optimization

Yongkai Zhou, Zheng Zheng Xiang, Yan Mei Zhu +1 more

This letter considers the secure MIMO transmission in a wireless environment, in which one transmitter (Alice), one receiver (Bob) and one eavesdropper (Eve) are involved. Apart from the artificial noise (AN) generated by Alice, Bob can also exploit his remaining antenna resources to emit AN to further impair Eve's channel. Such kind of AN can be cancelled by Bob himself by applying the Full-Duplex wireless communication technique. A computable secrecy rate is obtained for this model over a Rayleigh-fading eavesdropping channel. In order to maximize the secrecy rate, a joint optimization scheme is proposed to assign the TX/RX antennas for Bob and to design the beamforming and power allocation for Alice's information and AN signal. Simulation is carried out to illustrate the process of the proposed optimization scheme.

Artificial Noise Generated in MIMO Scenario: Optimal Power Design

Yan Mei Zhu, Yongkai Zhou, Sulaiman Saleem Patel +3 more

In wireless communication, the transmitter (Alice) can send artificial noise (AN) to interfere with the eavesdropper (Eve). This letter considers the AN MIMO scenario, i.e., both Alice and the legitimate receiver (Bob) are equipped with multiple antennas. A closed-form expression for the lower bound of secrecy capacity is obtained. It is proved that water-filling is the optimal power allocation scheme. An efficient iterative algorithm is proposed to find the optimal power distribution ratio between information and AN so that maximum secrecy capacity can be achieved. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm converges fast, and multiple antennas can improve the secrecy capacity to some extent compared to the AN MISO case.

Robust Secure Transmit Design with Artificial Noise in the Presence of Multiple Eavesdroppers

Xiaochen Liu, Yuanyuan Gao, Nan Sha +2 more

This paper studies secure wireless transmission from a multi-antenna transmitter to a single-antenna intended receiver overheard by multiple eavesdroppers with considering the imperfect channel state information (CSI) of wiretap channel. To enhance security of communication link, the artificial noise (AN) is generated at transmitter. We first design the robust joint optimal beamforming of secret signal and AN to minimize transmit power with constraints of security quality of service (QoS), i.e., minimum allowable signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) at receiver and maximum tolerable SINR at eavesdroppers. The formulated design problem is shown to be nonconvex and we transfer it into linear matrix inequalities (LMIs).The semidefinite relaxation (SDR) technique is used and the approximated method is proved to solve the original problem exactly. To verify the robustness and tightness of proposed beamforming, we also provide a method to calculate the worst-case SINR at eavesdroppers for a designed transmit scheme using semidefinite programming (SDP).Additionally, the secrecy rate maximization is explored for fixed total transmit power. To tackle the nonconvexity of original formulation, we develop an iterative approach employing sequential parametric convex approximation (SPCA).The simulation results illustrate that the proposed robust transmit schemes can effectively improve the transmit performance.

Improving the Secrecy Rate via Combining the Artificial Noise with the Masked Beamforming Scheme

Fangbiao Li, Zhi Xue, Yongkai Zhou +1 more

This paper considers the secure communication via combining the artificial noise with the masked beamforming scheme. In this scenario, the transmitter is equipped with multi-antenna while each of the eavesdroppers is equipped with only one antenna, and the legitimate receiver has a receiving antenna and a transmitting antenna, respectively. The transmitter simultaneously transmits a beamformed secret information-bearing signal to a legitimate receiver and artificial noise (AN) to the eavesdroppers. The legitimate receiver sends the AN to confuse the eavesdropper while receiving the desired signal from the transmitter. We compare the proposed scheme that combining the AN with masked beamforming with no beamforming vector scheme, and derive that the combined strategy obviously improved the secrecy rate.
