Abstract

Cavity quantum electrodynamics has already proven to be a system capable of demonstrating basic tools in quantum information theory. By combining these tools, we show how simple quantum information protocols could be implemented. We will focus on the examples of the Grover search algorithm and quantum cloning.

Cavity QED: applications to quantum computation

Han Xiong, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

Possible schemes to implement the basic quantum gates for quantum computation have been presented based on cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) systems. We then discuss schemes to implement several important quantum algorithms such as the discrete quantum fourier transform (QFT) algorithm and Grover's quantum search algorithm based on these quantum gates. Some other applications of cavity QED based systems including the implementations of a quantum disentanglement eraser and an entanglement amplifier are also discussed.

Implementation of three-qubit Grover search in cavity quantum electrodynamics

Wan Li Yang, C. Y. Chen, Mang Feng

Using resonant interaction of three Rydberg atoms with a single-mode microwave cavity, we consider a realization of the three-qubit Grover search algorithm in the presence of weak cavity decay, based on a previous idea for a three-qubit quantum gate [Chen et al., Phys. Rev. A 73, 064304 (2006)]. We simulate the searching process under the influence of the cavity decay and show that our scheme could be achieved efficiently to find a marked state with high fidelity. The required operations are very close to the capabilities of current cavity QED techniques.

Universal quantum cloning in cavity QED

P. Milman, H. Ollivier, J. M. Raimond

We propose an implementation of an universal quantum cloning machine [UQCM, V. Buzek and M. Hillery, Phys. Rev. A 54, 1844 (1996)] in a cavity quantum electrodynamics experiment. This UQCM acts on the electronic states of atoms that interact with the electromagnetic field of a high-$Q$ cavity. We discuss here the specific case of the $\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{1}2$ cloning process using either a one- or a two-cavity configuration.

Cavity-QED-based quantum computing

Tiegang Di, Marlan O. Scully, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

Based on resonant atomic interactions with classical fields and dispersive couplings with quantized cavity fields we discuss schemes for the implementation of certain quantum computing algorithms. In particular we discuss implementations of Grover's algorithm and the quantum Fourier transform.
